Hello everyone!

What oil brand do you recommend for the Z? Is this a good brand for 5W-40:

I not sure what is the stock oil for the Z when you take your Z to the dealership. Thanks!
0W-20 is the factory recommendation

Pennzoil Ultra Platinum is an excellent oil that is readily available at Walmart, Amazon, parts stores, etc. and what I run in all my vehicles. Same can be said for most Mobil 1 and Valvoline's newer formulations.

If you want an ultra premium boutique oil, Motul, Redline, Amsoil, etc. are all great.

Do I use the 5W-40 or 0W-20?

How many bottles do you need to fill the Z? Do you do the oil change yourself or take the bottles to the dealership?

If you change the oil yourself, is it easy to do with the new Z? Where do you dispose of the oil after you are done?

5.6 to 5.75 qts. So 6 qt bottles every change. I have the dealer do it and just bring in my own oil for them to use. Not sure on ease of doing it yourself but Im sure there are some YT vids showing it.

You can take your used oil to any quick change oil place and they will take it for recycling. They make money on it so they are glad to take it off your hands. I usually bring them 40 quarts at a time. I have a lot of cars.

Very easy DIY with basic hand tools. You'll need ramps or jacks+stands to raise the car. You can bring the used oil back to the auto parts store for recycling.

Ow20 is hella thin and is only recommended from OEM due to fuel efficiency. Many recommend 5w-30 the minimum to 0w40/5w40

Motul is good. AMSOIL the best

Also, I'd get 2x 1 gallon jugs. The spare oil is useful to top up every time you check your oil (i check every 1000km) and it has dropped a bit

The VR still burns through oil, and if you have a oil catch can, it would steal some of that too

I lease my Z so I do exactly what NISSAN recommends. Buy a NISSAN oil change kit that comes with their oil, drain plug washer and new filter. Usually online for about $65.00.

I use Motul 8100 5W-30 (after I passed 10k)

IMHO, as far as brands go, if you do 5k oil changes or less, all the quality brands are going to hold up and perform similarly.

Oil weights are more nuanced. There's some good threads on that here.

There are a few great threads on here about 0w20 vs 5w30. Couple papers also, written by boosted6, IIRC.

But, bottom line, if you want to change your own oil, you need new crush washers and this funnel:

Thread-on oil funnel

Otherwise, you are coating the top of your engine cover with oil.
