If they have to drop the price to $45k- $49k in order to sell the things, I'll bet that they'll just pull the plug. Prune the dead wood.
I should add, I don’t see a reduction in MSRP ever happening. Far more likely IMHO that they'll just leave it to the dealers to discount. If the Z car MSRP ever does get dropped into the $50,000 range, it will be after they ****-canned the product line and are trying to dump inventory via fire sale.

Oh, I'm aggressively looking, yep a few under $50K but at locations needing fly and drive. Even low mile one-owners also considering, which are dipping in the low $40Ks. Guess I'm picky on the color/interior options.

Just visited a local dealer here, Empire Nissan, 5 Zs on the lot, two Seiran, one White, one Silver, one Black, looking sharp, all Performance at $56K MSRP, haven't talked to any salesperson on offers yet.
Pick one and go straight to the GM or GSM. Show commitment and offer your firm number. Walk away if they are not close to your number and leave your contact behind.

Agree. Nissan dealers are hurting badly anyways nowadays. If they want to clear inventory, which most now have enough Zs sitting on the lot (Zs were ONLY displayed in showrooms before), it's up to the dealer to make a sale. Will see what comes out of this.

During a question and answer period at the company’s recent Fast Forward event, chief planning officer Ponz Pandikuthira told reporters the Z car is here to stay. Sports cars will remain, he said, even though they rarely pencil (turn a enough profit to justify building them). It will have to adapt to tightening emissions and fuel economy regulations, though. The best way to do that, he suggested, is by going hybrid, not EV.

Regardless of my personal feelings on EV's and such - hybrid's make way more sense in today's world than going full on EV.

Motorsports are not going away - even for the consumer buying sports cars. Glad the Z appears to be sticking around, even if it has to go hybrid. Just glad it's not going to go full EV... for now. Once it makes sense, you can charge faster than you can now and the infrastructure exists / driving one long distances in all kinds of weather without putting strain on power-grids with massive amounts of people driving them, sure.

I wish car manufactures didn't just bow down to all of the California laws though - at least in the US - but that's another topic.
