This is a valid point. I had a 2017 370z Nismo that I had a total loss on from the insurance company about a year ago, and even as a total loss I still made over $2500.00 on the car, even though it was an insurance payout.
For me it will all depend on the price it'll be available for. Initially I think the price for months if not a year or longer will be above list. Plus there will be the taco tax . After seeing the performance and the Nismo together I knew I didn't want the performance. Although I wanted a manual an 11K discount helped get me into the auto. I will always prefer the manual.

Yes, speed shifting with a manual gear box has always been a blast for me through the years. However, I got into sim racing awhile back, and after doing that, I got familiar with the paddles on different wheels and started having fun doing that.

So now, when I get in my Nismo, I kinda feel like I'm playing a video game. It's a great experience.

Thanks for the info... although if people won't get their head out of the sand... this info could hit them in the face and nothing would change...

I got curious at the comments and started actually pricing Nismo Z oem parts. I did not get far to get to $13k. Still did not price suspension, mounts, extra cooling, etc.

What does this mean? Not much. I see someone keep saying they can build it cheaper so I kind of wanted to know.

You could ignore all these parts and spend money on other things. Like coilovers and better cooling and a tune.

NIsmo Z 15” brakes - $1900
Nismo Z wheels (set of 4) - $4000
Dunlop SP Sport MaXX GT 600 - $1500
Nismo Z front bumper - $1500
Nismo Z rear bumper - $1400
Nismo Z Recaro seats (pair) - $4000
Finally someone making sense...

... but what about resale or future value? Should that be taken into consideration as well?

I personally believe the Nismo variant of the Z would hold its value a bit better than the Sport or Performance, and if they do end up appreciating in the future, the Nismo should appreciate more due to its rarity.

And then there's the enjoyment/happiness of owning something that is more rare and less seen, there has to be some value in there that can't be quantified with numbers as well.
That is exactly one of the points I took into consideration when deciding to do the swap. A month ago, the 7 year depreciation of the Nismo was in the mid $30,000s. The performance not even close...

this is a silly argument. There is a rumor of a manual nismo z. I hope people buy it. I hope people buy every Z made so they keep making them
Amen!

$70,000+ OTD for not much more than I have in my performance, that is an insanely hard sell. I'd go back to a Supra before paying that.

I'm not saying its a bad car, I'm saying the price is absolutely stratospheric for what it is, though.

I see what you’re on about now. You see no value in most of the upgrades the Z Nismo have that makes it an overall sharp and honed package. You probably would like a Cayman S over the GT4. I’ll tell you right now the Recaros are among the best seats I’ve ever owned in any of my past cars and I hear a lot of folks complaining about how the seats feel in the lesser Z’s. But I understand that certain models isn’t for everyone and I get that.
"Lesser Z's"? Congratulations on the most tone deaf comment that I have ever read on this site. Good move. Make a comment on a forum of enthusiasts that is likely to insult a number of them.

You can use that logic on any track model car. The difference between a GTR and a GTR Nismo is the entire cost of a fully loaded Nismo Z plus a miata. I don’t think it’s worth it. The difference between a 911 base and a GT3 RS is like 2 more 911 base cars. The difference between a 340i and a M3 is like 20k+. The difference between a GTS and GT4 is 20k +. The difference between a Mustang GT and a DH is 14k. The difference between a PZ and a NZ is 13k. The Z literally has among the lowest increase to the track variant along with the DH and M2 and everyone of them has upgraded body, seats, chassis, more power etc but y
knocking those (I have the nismo intakes myself), but they are often just re branded parts they've sourced from reputable vendors (I believe the general consensus i
It’s all about the money! To cut cost they probably should have detuned the SZ to maybe 350HP along with the open diff save most of the money on performance differences between models not on comfort options. To not offer heated seats and other basic comfort options is crazy Hyundai offers options like this on their base vehicles.

The fact that the PZ and NZ don’t come with heads up displays power folding mirrors and heated steering wheels even as an option is crazy especially at their price points . I willing to be that 90% of that is already in house and used on their other vehicles. In the end I’m happy with my PZ and don’t plan on driving it on the winter anyway, but come on Nissan you dropped the ball.
You don't get a Z for reasons that competitors offer their vehicles, majority of the owners here liked the nissan kept heritage and stayed un-apologetically nissan. Do those Kia's or hyundai's compare to just the sheer history of the Z? Or perhaps the looks that caught most owners attentions? Or perhaps the ideology behind a driver focused car, and if you know anything about Nissan; the base models for all of their sports cars have always been bang for bucks so you could modify them. Also just to clear up, on the 350z forums and 370z forums, many owners can agree a modified Nismo is "better" than a modified non-nismo, and to all those arguing about nismo parts and it just being the body kit or strut tower brace, remember it was Autech that welded and reinforced the chassis at the shock towers and the trunk-ish area of the car, it wasn't Z1 motorsports.

Spot on! This is the main reason I'm still hanging around this cool forum and finally grabbed a '25 Performance. This new Z kept the Datsun/Nissan lineage correct (240Z grille, headlight buckets, Z32 rear, Z34 quarter window, and that awesome katana!) all Nissan. Remember when Alfonso Albaisa first explained the design. Just beautiful and flowing, no unnecessary ducting, bulges, wings. Now I have both, older brother 240Z (with all-Nissan RB26DETT) and this younger brother. I did not get the Z because of outright performance, we all know it's lacking compared to others, but it's still a great package.

About that rarity, the relatively high MSRP for what the Z really is under the skin, and low production numbers, keep the younger crowds away. But it's just fine for us here, enjoy your rides all.

Hope to see some of you at JCCS next month.

Outstanding job on the 240(?). Absolutely beautiful. Carbs or FI for intake? Love the fender extenders, need that for my Z for bigger tyres.

The RB26DETT is FI, still running twin Garrett T25 turbos, basically OEM and safe tuned for track, not drags. Thanks
