Hey all!

Will likely need new pads for the 24 NIsmo come next driving season (Spring 25)

Wondering if it's a different size for the brake pads when compared to the Performance spec? Knowing the front rotor is slightly bigger.

Hearing mixed messages on the web.

Looking to pickup some Project MU pads, preferably the PS (Perfect Sport) Trim.

TIA!
Enjoy the last few weeks of the season (for those more north!)

It uses a bigger pad. For example there is a Nismo aftermarket pad made for the Z but it won't fit the NISMO. It says only for 14" the Z NISMO is 15" caliper

Thank you MC

Any idea what size the front uses for the NISMO trim?

Would the rear pad be the same size as the Performance Trim?

If you find the correct part number, please share.

I’m also keen to change the pads, but cannot find anything other than the OEM replacements.
Fwiw at this point.

Confirmed the NISMO pads are different.
Some parts numbers confirmed by Sales @ Mackin Industries (official Project MU distribution)

Waiting on his confirmation if P. MU has pads for the NISMO

I too am waiting for Aftermarket Replacement pads for my Nismo. I am partial to Carbotech pads. For 2 reasons..low dust and much longer wear for the same or better bite. I’ve been checking with them periodically for the release. Hope soon.

Super!
Keep us posted.
Seems the AEM for Nismo front pads is untapped market right now.

The OEM pads are nice for my driving habits
And did well on a track day.

But man, dust dust dust!

So thankfully I did ceramic coating in the wheels / caliper!

So Some much Welcomed news for Nismo Aftermarket brake pads! I just got off the phone with a Rep at Carbotech. They are laser cutting Nismo Z front pads this week and will have Carbotech Nismo Z pads available within approximately 3 weeks. The indicated that Z1 will be the source to order from when available. Of course the rear will be available as well since they are the same size as the Performance Z. I will immediately be ordering these Carbotechs for my Nismo as I Can't take the DUST DUST DUST from the Factory spec Pads anymore. I had my wheels Cermic Coated and it helps with cleaning but it only takes about 15 miles of driving and they are covered again. UGH

Wonderful news and timing!
Thanks 71zmanfor the update :)

Hopefully I get word back from P.MU Japan!

At the end of the day, being up north in Canada - I have at best another month with the NISMO
so time in the off-season to shop around.

Update on the Project MU Pads.

Basically, they were not even aware that the NISMO Fronts were diff caliper size.
They will enter product development which takes 5 months, and then another 3 months or so for inventory to arrive to America.

I'll keep tabs with the Mackin Sales Rep for progress on product development.

Looks like Carbotech finally released pads for the Nismo trim. Check out their product search page. I tracked my Nismo Z this past weekend and the stock brakes while not terrible, they were not confidence inspiring enough for me to do any threshold braking or late braking at all on the track. I will say the stock brake pads held up reasonably well, never experienced any brake fade and the rotors didn't glaze, but the braking performance I am used to was simply not there. I did end up installing the Z1 brake master cylinder brace so that helped a bit so I can't imagine how less confidence inspiring the brakes would have been without the brace.

For comparison, I also have a Nissan 370Z Nismo with SS brake lines, Motul RBF660, brake master cylinder brace, Z1 two-piece rotors, and Carbotech XP10's in both the rear/front, and the brake feel on that is basically either on or off, and VERY confidence inspiring. I have no problems with threshold and very late braking on that vehicle, so hoping I can get the Nismo Z up to the same spec with the larger 15" rotors and akebono calipers, so brake fluid and carbotech's with the stock rotors will be a start. I haven't seen anyone making SS brake lines for the bigger Akebono calipers yet, or aftermarket 2-piece 15" rotors yet either, so hoping someone will make those eventually, as otherwise I was considering downgrading the rotors/calipers to the performance akebono's like the ones on my 370Z, or upgrading them to the big brake kit which utilizes the GTR rotor and brake pad sizes.

Good write-up, and i agree with the confidence of OEM pads.
I have Project Mu SS Brake Lines all around, and they definitely helped with Feel.

P.Mu was doing R&D into the front brake pad (rear is the same as performance and they have the size), hopefully getting an update here in the coming weeks / months.

I was considering getting P.Mu SCR Pro rotors for the front and SCR for the rears.

FYI, the SS lines seem to be the same for perf and Nismo, I have Z1 SS lines on my Nismo and they fit perfect.

Ok, that's AWESOME. I had reached out to Z1 before and never got a clear answer, so thanks for confirming. Going to order those ASAP. I had started to gather that from @SavedByFaith_ response as well since he has Project Mu SS Brake Lines all around as well.

Despite having installed a brake master cylinder brace, the brake pedal still felt soft on the track, so the stock brake lines were still very much flexing a lot. This should help fix that issue, and in combination with some Carbotech brake pads and higher rated brake fluid, hoping the brakes will feel a lot more solid and confidence inspiring.
