News on BIG 2027 Z Production changes for the US

This is us exactly, when we first got married in the early 90s we wanted a 300zx TT so bad, but could never afford it. We never liked the 350 or 370. Then this one came out with those taillights and we bought the first one I saw in a dealership when I stopped in for service on another vehicle.

I've been holding on to my 240Z as my dedicated track for 14 years, but when I saw the first reveals of the new Z, Alfonso Albaiasa's approach to styling, THAT front end is all 240Z, bug bitten again! Let go of the 240Z, had enough fun all those years, and jumped on this 2025 Performance 6MT. Beautiful timeless design, front and rear.

To my eyes, the 240Z is one of the most beautiful cars ever made. At least as a car that was within reach of many ordinary enthusiasts.

I was so glad to see Nissan return to a design that has its roots in that classic look. Too bad it took so long for Nissan to get back to it.

yeah. he got over 3 dozen 2027s when most dealers are getting 3 or so but out of those 30 or so N Zs he could only manage 2 NISMOs and dealer traded for another. just shows how limited they are gonna be if the largest Z dealer only got 2-3

Allocations for the Nismo went out like almost 2 months a go for about 3 days. If they didn't order one in that window they didn't get one.

they did. the 2027 Z NISMO auto or manual has been removed from dealer order banks after that first initial round of allocations. no idea if it will reappear as orderable at a later date or not.

before that even happened the manual NISMO was only going to make up less than 10% of total production of the new build to order model. my rough ballpark guess is that there will maybe be 350 manual NISMOs for the US. could change later in the spring or summer but for now every single one coming to the US was ordered in that first 3 day window at the first of march

My assumption is they have a planned gap(s) in the formal production schedule to produce more if the demand can support it. Last thing they want, whether it's a Z or an Altima, is cars sitting on lots. With Nissan and their continuous decades-long struggle to dig themselves out of a hole, they want every Z that hits American soil to already be sold or to sit for the very least amount of time possible.

Whether it's "overproduction" or "overpriced" or whatever...It worked out for me with my Z a little over a year ago, so no complaints here. Maybe they're minimizing the overproduction part, but the overpriced aspect could still play a factor for those who feel it's an issue.

Absolutely. Getting close to a year for me, too, when I finally found exactly the Z I was looking for and with a nice discount.

Under utilization of manufacturing capacity can be just as serious of an issue as over production. Take either too far and bad things will happen.

I don't think the Z has been overproduced. I'd say the dealerships didn't like the fact that there was enough to go around that they couldn't mark them up. I'm always looking at Z inventory, I've never seen a Z stay available for more than a few weeks. But I'm on the West Coast, maybe different story elsewhere

I don’t know how it is now, but around this time last year was when I started noticing Z’s actually accumulating at the dealers in SE Texas and dealers were calling me. That’s when I started getting serious about trying to find the Z I’d be interested in. One thing that no doubt helped was by this time a lot of the initial new Z demand had been met. I also noticed the prices dropping around Texas in general and was really glad to find exactly what I was looking in for in the DFW area, from a dealer that would also sell without any dealer add ons.
