Hello,
I can't get used to the OEM Bridgestone tires. I tried to adjust pressure several times but nothing is helping.
I read great reviews on the Michelin PS 4S all season but I'm hesitant to make such an expensive purchase especially now that the Bridgestones are still almost new with only 5,000 miles on them.
Do the Michelins really makes a difference? Are they worth it?
Your thoughts please.
Thanks

I’m sure there are other reliable, reputable, possibly less expensive performance tires. But. Since 2002, 1 Acura, 1 Infiniti,, 2 Z’s, 2 Vettes, 1 Caddie, Michelin’s were/are my only tire.
On the Vettes, we’d often ran tracks & other spirited driving. I think they’re great & safe tire, when your life might depend on them.

You mentioned PS4S but then added AS for the all season. Which tire are you looking at specifically? The PS4S is an awesome tire, and really straightens out the cars bad behaviors, but it is a summer ultra high performance.

The PS4AS is the all season variant and is definitely not the same tire. It’s better than the factory bridgestones for sure, but it’s not magic. I was running the PS4AS over the winter, and couldn’t wait to put the PS4S’ back on. This winter I’ll probably just do Alpin 5s when it’s time to switch to winters.

...the Michelin PS 4S all season...
Michelin makes the Pilot Sport 4 S (PS4S), a summer tire, and the Pilot Sport All-Season 4 (PSAS4), which are different tires altogether. AFAIK, there is no PS 4S all season.

Also, if you're in SoCal, I'd recommend to consider the summer tires all year.

I replaced the Bridgestones on my car at about 10k miles (the rears were at minimum tread depth), and it's been night and day. I use the stock size and recommended inflation pressures for street driving (no track or autocross). In situations where the OEM tires would spin, the PS4S either grip or let out the slightest of chirp.

Here's the research I did 4000 miles ago: https://www.nissanzclub.com/forum/threads/which-pilot-sport-4s.2636/

The factory tires are complete junk and make the car dangerous. Nitto G2 all day for me. They hook amazing.

If you're in a warm dry climate like I am in Phoenix then PS4S all day. I've been running them for years on all of my Z's and there isn't anything better. I tried the Continentals because my tire guy said they're cheaper and just as good. Not even close. PS4S is the clear winner until you jump to Sport Cup or something similar.

My potenzas were showing cords after 15,000 km. I also found the stock potenzas to have a weird ledge of grip. They were kind of grippy then all of a sudden the car would step out and lose traction.

So now I’m running the ps4s and night and day difference from the potenzas. The way the car feels, bites, and handles feels so much better. Worth every penny in my opinion. I did a big 10 day road trip through the mountains in Alberta last summer and they did amazing.

This is just my opinion of course and for context, I do only drive my car between April and October/november. I don’t track it, just the occasional spirited rip around my city for the most part.

I got rid of the stock 007 Potenzas wilh less the 4700 miles on them. Those tires are not remotely suitable for a Performance Z and I went so far as to tell the dealer as much.
I’m now running Pilot Sport 4S which I absolutely love. What a noticeably improvement over the stock tires. As I drive my Xterra in the winter, these tires are it for me.
As other members have pointed out, the Pilot Sport 4S are completely different than the the Pilot Sport All Seasons.

Your dealer doesn't care about your tire experience. The factory tires are largely chosen based on tread wear, noise, and cost. 90 percent of drivers just drive the cars. Spirited driving terrifies most drivers. Seeing classic muscle car owners driving white-knuckled, turning 90mph, 15 second 1/4 mile times is where most folks are at.
