What's everyone doing for oil? 10k like it says or less? Full synthetic or blend? I'm a new Z guy and turbo owner. I plan on keeping this car for a long time.

I did my first oil change at 1200 miles after break in then again at 5000 miles. I think every 5k is good since you'll also still be on the factory schedule. I used Motul 0W20 and the taller GTR oil filter.

I dug deeper in the OP. 20k mile intervals for brake fluid and diff oil? Holy shit. What's that gonna cost me because I can't do that stuff.

You changed it at 1200 miles? LOL
On a Nismo I changed at the Dealer at almost exactly 2,000mi. They also did a multipoint inspection and sent me a video. No recommendations or faults were found. I consider 2K the break-in. I did a couple of light pulls accelerating onto the freeway, but no Launches or Burnouts. I sent an oil sample to Blackstone for analysis.

I expect there will be silicon (from RTV & assembly) & some wear metals in the sample. Yes, at 2K there is plenty of life left in the ‘OEM’ oil- but it’s better for the life of the engine to change it. I can post my results if anyone is interested. I agree with @haohmaru that the interval should be 5K (or maybe 7.5K max depending on the analysis results).

Strangely, the Nissan Service Dept. said to “send it” - no need for a break-in period. The official 1st oil change isn’t scheduled until 10K. I call BS, as I’ve *always* used a break-in oil on a fresh engine and changed it to normal Synthetic at 1200-2000mi.

I use Motul 0W20 Power because of higher engine temps in hot conditions.

Changed mine at just under 1K miles, always good preventive maint, there’s been reports of break-in metals, and will be every 5K miles after that. Using 5w30 for my use and warmer CA climes.

@Andz Have you considered a higher weight oil if you're in a hotter climate? I'm in New England so I would use 5w30 in the summer if I get the oil changes to line up.

My $0.02 on engine oil:

1. First oil change by 2,500 mi
2. Standard changes at 5K
- As Nissan's schedule is 10K, I plan to alternate with home oil changes and dealership every 5K to get the standard 10K checks services from the dealership.
3. Full-synthetic oil and factory filters
- I'm a Mobil 1 guy. Saving a few bucks going with STP isn't my bag, but if you're doing oil changes religiously at 5K, using cheaper stuff probably isn't going to do much, or any, harm. Just not worth it in my opinion though; gambling engine life by saving $25 every 5 months.

Opinions above are for a daily driver, occasional driver, and even a daily with LIGHT autoX or track use. I don't have experience with a heavily tracked car or a HEAVILY modified street car. But from soaking in stuff for years, there are probably other options you'll want to investigate with slightly different spec's from the OEM recommendztions.

I switched to Motul Econergy 5w30 and the Nismo filter. It gets cold here but prefer engine protection year-round so I make sure I warm up the engine before driving in colder weather. I change the oil ~3500-4500 miles or 3-4 months.

first change was after break-in @ 1k, the next will be at 2-3k, then 5k. after that maybe 7.5 - 10k. the first couple with M1 0-20. then switching to 10-30 M1
