Id agree these are concerning issues for anyone intending to use the car for auto sports, though I’m still holding out hope that since those cars were still technically pre-production models (hence no dyno runs were permitted) that the final production tune will rectify these behaviors. No one should sleep on this video. This actually raises some serious drivability issues for me. As an autocrosser or to anyone wanting to push the car to the limit, the Z sounds seriously handicapped.
Pretty much all of these issues kill it for me wanting to buy this car. I can live with the high price tag, but this car has too many fatal flaws.
- 14:13 - Power cut when braking, no left foot braking. If I'm not at the limiter, I should be the only one able to cut power, not the car.
- 15:03 - Really invasive rev limiter. Could be a problem when racing at higher RPM's.
- 17:18 - "Ice Mode" when applying brakes during transitions. This can be very dangerous.
- 19:19 - Slow steering response everywhere, not just on center. This is unforgivable.
- 21:27 - Secondary boost bump. Intentionally making power delivery non-linear.
I'd agree if Nissan was thinking properly - but the mere fact that they gave someone like Jason Cammisa a car with all these issues, knowing his driving history and prior reviews (I assume they did their homework?), suggests they weren't and aren't.I would be really, really surprised if Nissan kneecaps the car that badly once it crosses into production territory. They know their audience—i.e., see where the traction control button is—and I don't think they'd disservice us like that.
I'll caveat this with I haven't watch the video yet. I will later today.I hope it's just a preproduction thing. However, I doubt EcuTek can get rid of the "Ice Mode" issue or the slow steering. The shitty thing is it puts a doubt on the car I was longing to get.
*Camaro SS 1LE has entered the chat*Except for Porsche and possible the M cars. No manufacturer builds a car with stock brakes that can handle an advanced or solo track day guy.

Even the new Supra needs brake upgrade if you are serious.
If you are twice a year road course event then you should be fine.
They are really good out of the box. But if you have to upgrade pads and fluid then my statement from years as a track rat stand*Camaro SS 1LE has entered the chat*
My year, 2013, definitely needed more aggressive pads and higher temp fluid, but the new ones are pretty stout from factory.
I'm saying I did on my old bertha, but you certainly don't have to with the latest 1LEs, and definitely not with the ZL1 1LE. They are track weapons from factory.Th

Can YOU talk to someone from Nissan to find out the answer? OR is anyone from Nissan on this forum to give us the answers?I would be really, really surprised if Nissan kneecaps the car that badly once it crosses into production territory.
