I don’t want to turn this into a political debate, but any/allregulations out the window, does the US have the the ability to suck up and refine or grow enough fuel (gas, diesel, ethanol, whatever) so we don’t have to buy it from other countries? It seems like what we suck up here we sell to other countries maybe because it’s more profitable than the suckers/refiners selling it here, causing us to have to suck the teat of the Middle East and other countries that hate us. I’m not very political or a news watcher, so idk.

Clearly, in my mind, we have issues with sucking.
The US is a net exporter of energy. We pump, refine, and create more than we consume. This goes for oil, gasoline, ethanol, natural gas, electricity, etc.

No it's not. The emergency summer waivers are nothing new and have been happening every year post-pandemic under both Trump & Biden administrations. E15 is clearly labeled and still a niche fuel typically only found as 88-octane. I know of only one station (a Shell) selling E15 87 & 89, but I believe some of the national truck stop chains are experimenting with it too. In the Midwest, you'll sometimes see E30 sold as 94-octane.

I was told by two different tuners to stay away from Chevron when it comes to knock and a drop in timing that comes with it. One of the tuners suggested Shell and the other suggested 76. (This is in communist California) where we can only get 91. 😭. I also attempt to not be a dumb ass on the freeway and play the game of resetting the mpg reading to see how high I can get it on a trip. But, usually the dumb ass comes back somewhere in the middle of the trip and ruins my mileage!

Drop in 2 gals of E85 per tank to get your octane up to 93.

I'm sure we can. The problem is Americans make too much money, so 87 would probably be $15 a gallon if we did it all here. Chris can you chime in?

You dropped 6 mpg from a different gas? Lol

I'm not buying this story. Also don't believe you ever got 28. The best I've done combined is 22.

If you're getting 28 combined you may as well sell the car and buy a prius because you ain't driving it right.

That would be like getting a hooker for the night and instead of fucking y'all play Uno.
I was stating on steady highway drive at 70 mph , with shell got 28 and with chevron around 22

Sinclair 93 is what I use and I get close to 30mpg on the hwy cruising 80-85mph.

24-25mpg around town.

I drive like a grandma 90% of the time and a 14 year old that stole the car 10% of the time.

We're a net exporter and do refine the majority of what we use. We also have among the cheapest energy globally, especially compared to Europe.

I'm getting 25.9 on highway at 85-95 mph. Brand gas is not a big deal to me especially on a 2 day trip, but I always use Premium.

Not all oil is created equally. Our refineries are set up to refine oil different then what we produce due to historical reasons. Hence why we import oil from abroad.

Chevron and shell has been dynod in my area 94 vs 93. Shell 93 proved to be better. And i did try the 94 chevron before and the car felt little sluggish. Ive been going on 93 shell only now

What are y’all seeing in your areas in regards to pricing on reg (87) vs mid (89) vs premium (91-93). Curious if that differs state to state or regionally.
Here, it’s +$0.50 per grade, premium is 93.
