Update:

Read reply below, anyone have any leaks not using the adapter?

I’m surprised at this response from awe for connecting their standard 3” flange to another standard 3” flange and suggesting that you may need a custom adapter plate for 3” to 3”….

I guess you caught them off guard trying to connect 3” to 3” - lol

Silly me for trying to build something with corresponding mods.

Silly me [...]
The supplied adapter plate is only there because the OE flange does not have enough surface area to support the supplied gasket on our 3” connection. If the aftermarket downpipe flange has enough surface area to support that gasket, fitment may be possible without the adapter plate. The adapter plate does not act as a spacer and will not change how the flanges physically meet.

For reference: the adapter plate has a 2.5” internal diameter, while the gasket supports the 3” connection. Aftermarket 3" DP fitment depends on how closely the aftermarket downpipe flange location, shape, and dimensions match the required spec.

Parts referenced in the installation guide on page 2:
Supplied adapter plate - 110091 (C in the parts list)
Supplied gasket - 910003 (D in the parts list)
AWE flange (downstream part) - F41 + F42 (Inlet pipes)

Forgive me for repeating this: looking at only LDP's Resonated vs. Non Resonated sound. My assumption is that resonated is an anti-drone measure while straight pipes achieves a louder, more aggressive roar with pops. I like the occasional pop and some drone is fine but I can't stand rasp. Got a lot of rasp from old VQ with straights. Anyone have any insights here?

The raspiness is exactly what small resonators assist with eliminating. They basically just smooth out the tone and lower the volume ever so slightly.

Drone is primarily handled by the mufflers.

I’ve heard resonated DP’s (and maybe exhaust, idk?) reduce cabin noise. Not sure if that’s a direct correlation with being quieter in general or not. Supposedly they remove, or remove some of, that blender/food processor sound.

Edit: Raspiness, as @KrackaC8 said. That’s what I meant.

Hey everyone, I've read about 2/3 of this thread from the start and haven't come across an answer to my specific question. I want to ask if there's anything I need to keep in mind when using any LDP with and aftermarket Y-pipe (ISR/Z1/PLM) where it's 2.5" to 3" collector. I currently have the ISR single axle back.

Thanks!

Running spool 3” race lowers w/ awe touring exhaust - no pop, no drone & no rasp. This setup is quieter than my M/T stock exhaust with the A/T muffler delete mod. It is a tick louder at WOT with a nice tone.

Also, with the A/T muffler delete mod i picked up a bunch of resonant frequency buzzing noises during light acceleration. All disappeared with the spool / awe combo.

Do you happened to know who still offers a 2.5"? I've checked Spool, B6a, and AMS but it seems as though most people are only making the 3" version now.
Have you run into a shop (online) that sells or provides the 2.5 to 3 inch insert? If I am not mistaken, circuitwerks did/does.
