This reminds me of a story.Actually as people have said….for a lot of us, this will be our daily drive
I take offence to you saying people are buying it as a “toy”
No, I can only afford one car, a daily drive ….and yes I need one
I was STARVING one day. I can't remember what day it was, but it was a while back. I had no food in my fridge or pantry. I took my Titan (I needed to change the wheels out on my roller blades and I didn't feel like skating in the rain anyway) to my local Publix approximately 0.8 miles from my driveway to procure sustenance.
I quickly arrived at my local Publix having averaged a stellar 11.8 MPG in traffic. I NEEDED FOOD. I bypassed the deli, snack bar, and produce section and went straight up to the meat counter and encountered a soft spoken gentleman cutting meat who stopped what he was doing to assist me in my endeavors.
"Can I help you, sir?"
I replied, "Where is your Wagyu beef? I do not see any in the case here."
"I'm sorry sir, we currently do not have any Wagyu beef at the moment."
Downtrodden, I replied, "Are you getting any in soon?"
"I'm sorry sir, but with the market the way it is, our supply chains have been severely disrupted. Availability is scarce and we're not sure if we will even get it if it becomes available as pricing has been extremely volatile."
I bristled at his response, however truthful and grounded in reality it might have been at the time.
"How do you not know when you'll get the beef and how much it will be when you do get it? DON'T YOU SEE I'M STARVING TO DEATH?!"
The gentleman, still adopting the mantra of "Where Shopping Is a Pleasure" politely offered me a pair of Manager's Special New York Strip Steaks as consolation for the absence of WHAT I NEEDED in order to help me no longer go hungry.
Genuinely offended, I scoffed at his steaks. "How dare you suggest I eat amongst the peasants?!" I stormed out of the grocery store, still starving.
Later, my then girlfriend arrived with Chinese takeout. I ate the bottom out of that bag.
