I've learned (the hard way) that when it comes to aluminum bolts, "feel" is the best torque setting. Use the wrist then a final 1/8 to 1/4 turn elbow torque.

I didn’t read through all 7 pages but if no one has mentioned it so far I just installed the doorman metal oil pan on my 26 heritage edition and it’s a fraction of the cost of the z1 I got it on rock auto for $170 ish and it seems like it’s a great part comes with the new gasket and everything just make sure to use a different drain plug than the one that comes in it I used a gold plug.

The Dorman is a quality pan and what I also installed. Nothing wrong with their supplied magnetic drain plug.

I already had decided to change out the plug before I even ordered the pan but when I received it the magnet was just loose inside the plug the only thing holding it in was the plug itself being magnetic I could just lightly pull and the magnetic would come out. Also the magnet in the gold plug is far stronger than the dorman one

Oh that's not good! Luckily mine was solid.

Yikes! Not good!!!

Type "bypass" in search here and see what you get. For some reason it's a topic we like to discuss ad nauseum, and nauseum, and more nauseum. Brought it up here sort of tongue-in-cheek, but it's kind of like bringing up veganism around a vegan. Best to keep your mouth shut.

In short, my opinion and others may disagree... The Purolater filter you're running likely has a bypass pressure around 15, where the recommendation for the Z (or VR30) is around 30. If you change your oil and filter regularly, a filter with a lower bypass rating isn't going to cause any harm whatsoever.
