Good advice. Will definitely take a look at the tires when I take delivery next week.

Thanks all for the replies! I have decided to take delivery -- just like yall said, as long as the car is not abused and is in decent shape, I don't want to let this stop me from enjoying a nice car!
the tyres are fine mate. had my Z delivered last week with 70 on the dash

Hi all! I just put down a deposit on a '24 Nissan Z Performance yesterday. However, when I asked the sales rep to take a photo of the dashboard, I noticed the odometer reading was at 70 miles.

The dealer has already removed $10k from the MSRP. However, I am still somewhat taken off guard and annoyed by this fact, as all the offer documents they provided still listed the mileage as 5 miles. Some part of this is on me, as I forgot to take a look at the odometer when I took it out on a test drive last week. I did check the video I recorded during the test drive, and it was already at 67 miles then.

The car was assembled back in September 2024, and delivered to the dealer in October 2024. I asked the sales rep where the mileage came from, and he said the car had "a couple of test drives" and "moving around the lot to prevent lot rot".

I've done the research, and most people say anything less than 200 miles can be considered new. I also know that any given dealer will only have 1~2 Zs in their inventory, and all test drives will be using those cars so I am not expecting single-digit mileage upon delivery. However, 70 miles still seem like quite a high number to me.

I am curious about how many miles most of the Z owners have on their odometers when taking delivery of their car. Am I being paranoid? Is this normal for a Z that has been at the dealership for some time?
I'm in Canada so mine is in kilometers. I picked up my 24 Z in April and it had 9 km (5 miles) on it. That would seem more normal to me. At the end of the day, 70 miles is not much but feels like they seemed to be pretty weak on explanation.

Mine had 50 miles on it and the dealer had a few dealerships in the area. They said it's from moving from one to another. But I'm sure it's that plus the test drives.
Either take the deep discount off the '24 or pay extra for a '25 with 5 miles... It took my' 24 with the discount and haven't looked back. Great cars.

Delivery miles! Don’t forget, factory, factory test by the Japanese, drive onto ship, delivery at port, delivery miles. Nothing to worry about.

No, it was the fact that I paid 46.5 for the 24 z versus the 53.3 they were wanting for the 25. Also, the 25 had the gross blue interior, and the red was less offensive to my eye. They were also willing to heavily negotiate on the extra warranties that I wanted as long I was gonna get that 24 out of their showroom.
The blue isnt gross but each to their own.

Makes me feel quite a bit better to know I am not the only one getting that mileage!

I don't fully buy their explanation either, but given the discount they're willing to give, I will give them a pass.

Before my test drives

09 Cobalt had 6 miles
16 370z had 7 miles
24 Z had 9 miles
24 QX60 had 13 miles

Mine had 7 miles on it. I thought break in periods were a thing of the past. (I still do I think it’s a CYA thing in the manual) and I was doing launch controls at 20 miles.

Nothing to worry about, if you like the car buy it and enjoy it!

cheers!

IMO
They do it so they can have another reason to void the warranty.

But yeah, when i checked the manual it said keep it under 4k rpm until break in is over.

I had 6 on my performance and 7 on my NISMO.

fun story not really related to this at all but was reminded of it. my GTR NISMO had 77 miles on it. most GTRs have 21-23 because there is a 8 lap test track shack down procedure at the factory. since my GTR NISMO was the first production one ever built for the US they put about 50 extra miles on it for quality control testing. the even installed a non titanium nismo exhaust on it for testing and then installed the NISMO Ti after the laps so it wouldnt change the color of the exhaust tips.

there was a not inside the center console from the Tochigi factory worker with the miles when the exhuast was installed and it said 72.

Mine had 4 miles when I took it home and test drives were not allowed. but the car model was brand new and the people buying them showed up ready to buy. I new more about that car than anyone in the dealership when I walked in.

That is really cool! I would be very glad if the 70 miles on my Z is actually from factory test drives haha

I would say 70 miles on the odometer is a lot.
Mine had 17km on it.
Indeed that's a lot of miles for a "new" car, that's why I was quite upset when I first found out about it. But after I factored in the discount (and compared with other '25 Zs in my area with lower milelage on the clock) I decided to go with the deal.

Uh… my 2025 had 8 miles on it, parked in the showroom. 70 miles is from a salesman taking it home a few times, or it’s from test drives.

If you’re happy with the price, don’t sweat it. You’re likely to put 70mi on the car in a few days.
