No kidding. Do you know the details of what happened with the car? That’s a pretty dramatic failure. 😨
I seem to recall it being a tire blowing out, but could be wrong!

Right front tire exploded. This was on a road course so that can happen when all you’ve known for decades is 500 miles of right turns every weekend.
Seriously though, brakes overheated and overpressurized the right front tire and it popped.

Wow… damn dramatic. I know tires can be bad news if they decide to blow. You definitely don’t want to be anywhere near a semi truck tire if it decides to blow. It’s like being near a bomb. One more reason I try not ride alongside a big truck for long.

I had a "gator tail" come straight at my head back in my Kawasaki Ninja days! Never tucked so tightly against the tank in my life!

C7 motor had the V8 shut down to 4 too.
Yup! I will say, at least my C8's transition was MUCH smoother than my C7's was. Never a failure, but sometimes with the C7 I thought the engine was going to fall out.

just did my 3rd change at 6K miles. I did the break in change at 1200 then did another at about 4K miles but then went a full year and changed it at 6100 this week. I used the OEM 0W-20 and the NISMO filter.
Q. Are you referring to the black colored filter? If so, did you use the older version or the newest? Don't have the part numbers I don't of me, but I think they start with "RN".

Yep, bad news all around. I love motorcycles but they would all turn into suicide bikes for me, especially around this area. I’ve lost track of the number of bikes shooting by me, weaving in and out of traffic at crazy speeds. More testosterone than sense, heaven help them if they hit any road debris or highway craters. I often wonder as they rocket by how long before they’re crippled or no longer breathing. :(

15208-RN011 is the NISMO filter
Currently ~$43 from CZP and Z1, and ~$47 from Nissan.
$9.89 ea for 5 from RHDJapan, $32 shipping (Florida) plus probably $25 in duty. Around $110 for 5. Tempting. Never bought anything from them though.

I have. Good service and fairly quick. Updated me (by email) throughout the process.

Thanks for the heads up. I think I may order, but I have to educate myself on the benefits over what's available here/now.

Anyone in the know care to break it down?

Please chime in if I’m missing something, but I feel like if you’ve got “completely black” oil at 3,750, AND only 2,300 on that oil itself, that something’s wrong.
Cant speak for the “noticeably rough when accelerating“ part. This car can act weird, based on comments I’ve read here. But it sounds like that lasted 250 miles. Which I don’t really like either.

My first change was at the dealership, so I didn’t see the oil, nor did I check it for color just before. My 2nd wasn’t that long ago. A home job at 6,800. The oil was more orange than I was expecting, like orange iced tea. But it was still perfectly clear.

EDIT: Meant to ask… Did you check your level at at 3,500, or before you changed it at 3,750? Did It look like you drained at least 5 quarts?
Yes, I check the oil level once a week and it was steady at the full dipstick

Yes, I check the oil level weekly and it was consistently at the dipstick full mark.
The dark oil color was gradual from gold, to light brown to dark brown/black when I drained it. I remember that the oil color always looked darker when drained, so I may be exaggerating. I'll keep an eye on it for next few weeks and notice the acceleration performance.
Thanks

Yes, I definitely drained 5 qrts.
