  1. Turning the corner.....for now

Looks like the Bolt is going away: https://autos.yahoo.com/chevy-bolt-ev-euv-production-150600403.html
  2. What's in the news today... (NO COVID / POLITICS)

There is a mentality out there that the people perpetrating these crimes, are really good kind people, who have been treated poorly by society, and that the victims of the crimes, are in some way culpable. And the approach to dealing with the situation, is to throw more money and resources, into...
  3. Don't let the dealer touch your car?

Subaru dealership overfilled the oil in my BRZ. Last straw was Kia dealership overfilling our Soul. The latter was just before a long trip, I had to carefully drain nearly a quart of oil with hand pressing up against the drainplug easing it out. I mistakenly figured the dealerships would best...
  4. Turning the corner.....for now

In 2020 when I bought my econo car, I think the Bolt was still up around 37K MSRP (minus rebate). So I was still looking at near double the cost. But yes the prices have come down, and probably my next economy car will be an EV if still living in an urban area.
  5. Turning the corner.....for now

When I bought my petrol sipping economy car 3 years ago for 14k, the EVs were still too expensive to make it worthwhile, especially since we use the economy car for a lot of longer distance trips as well. It would have taken me years if ever to hit the break even point. Although when EVs drop...
  6. Hands Up all the Aussies

Life is short - and that looks like a fun car you can enjoy now. I think you made the right call.
  7. What's in the news today... (NO COVID / POLITICS)

Biden is significantly better than the alternative we could have had. The former star of "The Apprentice" left office with the largest peacetime budget deficit in USA history. (Plus he's a traitor to our democracy.) Our economy now is a mixed bag, with inflation pressure, but also low...
  8. More allocations coming to US?

Every week or so I check back here, but seems like still the same handful of people with Zs. At this rate few people will ever get a Z.
  9. More allocations coming to US?

I offer to transport the Z to your location - don't worry I will drive slow. ;)
  10. The Movie Review Thread

"Supposedly the events are based on a true story." In more ways than one. ;)
  11. Hands Up all the Aussies

Money and connections talk. ;) It's generally far worse in the USA. Imagine you are waiting 2+ years for one Z. And meanwhile some guy is posting photos of his three Zs, which he bought for himself, his wife, and his teenage daughter! That sort of thing is happening here with some other hard to...
  12. Start of factory orders

I'm in the USA and have never bought a Nissan, and didn't realize until recently they operate that way. I'm particular about certain functionalities and also paint color. Leaving aside initial supply restrictions, it would be a show stopper for me down the road, if Nissan were unable to deliver...
  13. Does anyone have a Z yet?

Nice to see more new Zs finally appearing around the USA. Although maybe I'm not worthy, because hands down I've got the most crummy looking garage of anyone on this site, lol.
  14. Hands Up all the Aussies

Every time I drive by a local Chicagoland Nissan dealership, I "pick up the visual scanning", hoping to finally see a real live Z. So far no dice. I assumed sometime in 2024 the dealerships around here will get one, which will then promptly be socked with 20k ADM. ;)
  15. Start of factory orders

Sorry if this also was answered, but do you think the no customer order thing will only be the way it's done initially, or is that likely how Nissan will always operate going forward with this type of vehicle?. I have little experience buying new, but people I know have typically ordered and...
  16. Hands Up all the Aussies

That ETA could slide considerably. Just as point of reference, I got an email from Ford three weeks ago with VIN and scheduled time for my vehicle build mid April. Since then the build date has slid to end of April. And based on what others have experienced, probably the build date will shift...
  17. Does anyone have a Z yet?

Generally speaking, I don't care for situations where big spenders pay extra to jump in front of everyone else. Regardless if by paying extra on a vehicle, buying a line cutting pass at an amusement park, or whatever. I'd say that is more of a social commentary on my part, I don't care for that...
  18. Does anyone have a Z yet?

You'd think a major metro area like Chicago would have a Z already, I'd like to go see one finally in person. When they do, the price will probably be jacked up. I know people who won't buy from Chicagoland dealers due to the hard sell and hijinks. My last car order I made from an out of state...
  19. Hands Up all the Aussies

I'm also thinking of getting a refund - from the entire new car scene, lol. Turns out a different new car I ordered (not Z) has a transmission issue which so far has not been addressed by the maker, and so I'm considering taking a pass on the vehicle. It's aggravating and might be a sign to...
  20. What's in the news today... (NO COVID / POLITICS)

Hard not to be pessimistic. My wife teaches 5th grade, and a student punched her last week. The vice-principle lied and said it was the first time, but my wife found out the same kid had earlier punched a different teacher. And get this, now it turns out this same kid on a school writing...
