Good god, that's depressing. I sincerely do not think that Nissan intended for the new Z to be a unicorn, likely far from it, but that's where we're at.
Even if the ITS is quicker to 60mph than a CTR, which remains to be seen, it's not .5 seconds-1 second quicker, I would highly doubt that. My point is that you stated something incredibly absolute with zero evidence to back the claim and refuted the claim itself within the statement.
It's...
But that is empirically false.
Firstly, who has run instrumented tests on the ITS? The major automotive publications haven't yet but the estimates are that it will run roughly even with the CTR, which is absolutely statistically slower than a 2023 Z both in a sprint:
Z: 0-60 in somewhere...
Ah, that shows it somewhat clearly! These are the areas giving me pause - I can't really tell but they appear to be indented, like concave areas in the valance which look...busy to me. Like an overstyling situation. I just cannot quite determine the details of those sections as of yet.
Front fascia is nice, that looks like a logical upgrade built from the racing experience gained, as was speculated/known. I'd have to get some better looks at the rear valance, though, because it looks rather messy to me based upon this clip.
Oh, it's just that it seems to be a baked-in problem with the way the new Z is set up. I'm not suggesting that any reasonably powerful sports car can't light up the rears during a dig, particularly in 1st gear, it's that most aren't quite so hard to launch cleanly with proper technique (and...
What 2021 C8 variant has 800 horsepower? The Stingray has 495 horsepower, so that's not it. The Z06 has 670 horsepower and the E-Ray, which wasn't unveiled until 2023 and is AWD, has 655 between the ICE and electric motor.
I get the point you're making, here, but even for the sake of...
I've long been speculating that, in real world conditions, a stock 370 with aggressive rubber may actually be able to out-accelerate a new Z from a dig given how difficult it is to launch the RZ34.
It is not particularly challenging to launch the 370 without vaporizing the rears, in my...
This is fact. Admittedly, I'm irked that the traction issue is holding back the car's launch capability to such a large degree, but ultimately real-world driving just isn't well represented via these test numbers.
The only exception I'll make on a Z, rather than getting a bright "sports-car" color, is pearl white. Because it's lovely. That said, give me tangerine orange, lime green, or some other citrus color.
I think the best acceleration time I've seen was a 3.9, though I can't recall who clocked it. Definitely an automatic. I do recall, however, that it was very difficult to repeat with any consistency. Times varied from that rather respectable sub-4-second run to nearly 5 seconds. Yikes.
From what I've seen, a *perfectly* launched Z (likely on an ideal surface) can hypothetically hit 60MPH in about 4 seconds. The Supra isn't a ton quicker to 60, based upon testing, but it seems wildly more consistent (and simpler) to launch effectively. Looking at Z acceleration tests, the...
As I understand it, assuming the EPA regulations are implemented in the current proposed form, the initiative would begin with MY 2027 (so, really in CY 2026) and it would be a rolling reduction in overall GHG emissions from that point to 2032 within each particular manufacturer. It's...
Same (well, outside of the lone Z sighting), and it's indicative of just how scarce the Zeds are, overall, when you've got warm-weather markets with big sports car cultures totally devoid of them.
No doubt, there's so much more to the bungling of this rollout than just "oh we couldn't get the parts."
If they went electric with the Z in the next gen and kept the same general design language (and the same number of doors), that would be amazing.
Oh, Nissan will absolutely take all of the wrong lessons from this situation. Let's hypothesize:
"Well, I guess there just wasn't much demand for Zs in the current automotive environment."
*buzzer sound*
"Buyers just weren't able to accept that the Z has moved upmarket, we guess this whole...
