..And he did say that first drops would likely be demo and proto models aswell. That was only his own opinion, but yeah, don't hold your breath for the performance model.

He was actually of the opinion to "look after the thousands" (with the performance) over looking after the 170 (with the proto).

I say do neither. First come, first serve. Like you say, follow the queue.

Again…be a stupid move to only have Protos and demos…realistically looking at one at most 2 cars that are able to be sold at a dealer …not happy Jan

My dealership said they will not have a demo until their 14 reservations are fulfilled.

If I spot a manual boulder demo car at their shop I'll be taking it for a one way test drive.

Make sure you're sitting down - one hundred and seventy Protos for Australia.

That is such an arbitrary number if true, if it is not 240 like the US and Japan than go with a more common number like 100 or 150 etc having a more random number like 170 without any real significance sort of makes it weird at least to me.

Obviously it might potentially be 1 for each dealer to get that number but I would rather they go by who ordered first rather than by dealership

What would everyones backup choice be if you decided to pull the pin on the Z?

Since I seem to potetentially be the most likely to cancel my order from most people in this thread I would be most likely looking at a F87 generation M2C or a late model F80 M3/M4 in manual.

The M2C will be easy to get in manual, the M3/M4 will be a bit harder.

With interest rates on the rise I potentially foresee next year a lot more cars being available on the second hand market. Most people will cut as many costs as possible to keep their house and hopefully cars will be one of them.

Mines a daily…replacing my Peugeot RCZ Type R that I sold in October last year believing I would have a car in Feb .
It was one of only 500 world wide, and realistically only around one in 250 by the time it was sold because of the number of them that were written off. It was approaching 7 years old and the car is known for the turbo engine to blow up, so I thought it was time. Servicing cost a fortune too… but now I REALLY miss it …especially as I’m driving my youngest crappy 9 year old I20 around. Quite depressing

Weekender.

I'm home for 2 weeks at a time so will be taking the proto, or the z32 out in an alternating fashion with my MY19 Triton as the daily.

I'm a frequent reader but definitely don't post as much.

No updates from my dealer at all. He mentioned he believes 500 cars are coming to Aus - but who knows (Sydney based).

Weekender for me and maybe the occasional track.
Mods: Intake, exhaust and spacers most likely. That should be a good start lol.

Weekender for me, and probably keep it totally stock, maybe with a Nismo exhaust if it's an option at delivery. If I was to do anything else, turbo back exhaust & a tune.

Will be a weekender for me also, no real mods, just some cosmetics, the door switch trim, door vents, door barrel and gauge pods will all get carbon fiber or piano black trim.

Their lot is literally empty except for 3 Navaras and their communication is non-existent. If I don't get the proto I will refund the deposit and wait for when/if the Nismo version comes or look elsewhere. I'm not desperate for a new car.

One of my orders is with these guys also, their website states Australia's largest volume dealer, so I thought better chance of getting a car with these guys.
Only had them call me twice without being prompted once to confirm the colour and transmission and when the price was announced.
All other calls were replies to my enquiries

They've never once contacted me unprompted. Their dealership has a big banner saying largest volume dealer in Australia as well. I drive past it every day and their stock has been dwindling for months.

My daily was a WRX for about 8 years, it blew it's 2nd motor a year ago, so decided it was time to let it go. I bloody loved that car.
Bought an $800 MK4 Golf (75kw of fury!) last July with 320,000km and a shagged clutch (manual) to tie me over til the Z arrives. Hill starts are pretty scary; never sure if it'll make it up!
Other than changing the oil once, I'm not planning on spending a dime on it ? it's a tired old car.

Funny how we become attached to a car….I literally stood at the end of my driveway and cried whilst I watched my Peugeot drive off into the distance with a very happy new buyer
