Take it to a proper mechanic. Dealer mechanics are woeful and do their best to avoid solving any real issues. Sounds like a suspension issue to me but who knows. It's definitely not normal.
I bought my HKS exhaust and suspension from https://yakuzamotorsport.com.au/ and they also did installation for me as they're here in Sydney. They seem to have a few different things for the Z now compared to when I was buying. Not sure how much shipping would be to Perth though.
It's a gain of 66hp. The dyno measures the power at the wheels which in this case is 375hp without the tune. The tune added 66hp. The 400hp Nissan quote is power output at the engine. There is some loss of power between the engine and the wheels which is why the baseline reading is lower...
It's very smooth - no hesitation at all. But to be honest there's so much torque around 3-4k I rarely get to 5/6k.
My Fiesta ST got a hesitation after an off the shelf tune with no dyno. It's pretty annoying.
Do you have them on the factory settings? The ride quality was perfect with factory settings, not too stiff and not too soft but it seemed a bit bouncy over bumps which I thought could unsettle the car at high speeds. To remove the bounciness they were stiffened up. They do now ride quite firm...
They're height adjustable, you don't need any additional lowering springs.
I got them supplied and installed at Yakuza Motorsports here in Sydney but most decent mechanics should be able to install them.
$15k. No idea if that's a good or bad price since they're so rare but it's original and mostly in pretty good shape as far as I can tell. Taking it to a mechanic tomorrow to get inspected/serviced so hopefully I don't find out otherwise.
There's another one on marketplace at the moment listed...
Cruising at freeways speeds with very little throttle input there's basically no drone but if you have to accelerate up a hill or something you'll hear a bit. It's totally fine and probably better than anything else on the market.
The fronts you can access from under the hood easily enough with a hex key. The rears you're meant to actually make a hole above the wheel wells (with a plug or something when you're not using) to access the adjuster. I didn't want to do this though so when I got my suspension adjusted they...
Hey,
Sounds like you have impeccable taste ;) I would say the ride quality is still pretty good. It's firmer for sure but it's not crashy or clunky or anything. No problems with small bumps or potholes. It's so much better to drive around even in traffic than it was stock. They're also...
I noticed after a couple of days of driving with factory settings the rear end was a bit bouncy over bumps which I expect could be pretty unstable at high speeds. So I had the guys that did my wheel alignment dial in the suspension for me and it's much better now. Pretty firm but handles bumps...
These have/had 117kw I believe. It still feels very punchy when on boost and it has a cool green boost light which my inner child loves. Quite a few small issues that I need to fix if ever I have the time/can find the parts. But for a 33 year old car it seems pretty clean and original - I...
The Z got a new brother today. A 1991 TX3 4WD Turbo. I always loved these as a kid and now it's happened. Very different to the Z but still so much fun.
