^ It's pretty impossible for any company to give definite timeframes these days due to Covid - parts shortages, staff absences, shipping delays, etc., etc. :(
I understand what you are saying but in our case if Nissan Australia states that production capacity has been reached then they have an actual number they are working to.
If pre orders with paid deposits are either above or below this production number customers should be told yes you are getting a car in so many weeks or months or told no you are not in the current allocation but will be at the front of the queue

Agree, at a minimum we deserve to know if we will get a car on not.

My questions:

1. Have dealers been told how many cars they'll be allocated initially?
2. Are they being built to order and does Nissan Tochigi have our orders?
4. Will shipments to Australia be as ordered?
5. Will demonstration vehicles arrive before early orders?
6. Can dealerships sell their demonstration allocation?
7. Where are our build/VIN numbers?
8. If deliveries are due now, why is there no communication whatsoever?

I think we are all feeling a little frustrated now …I’m trying to stay patient and positive. They said July it’s only just June.

The fact there is a “queue” advertised would seem to indicate orders will be filled in order of said queue and that we will get what we ordered . Personally not interested in a demo…would mean another year of waiting to buy it

Now you know me, I’m not usually a defender of Nissan, in fact I’m the opposite…I’ve been pretty harsh
…but I’m trying to stay positive as much as possible

But definitely share everyone’s frustration surrounding the lack of information, after all they have had our money for quite some time, a few answers really isn’t too much to ask

I was more thinking I’ll claim the demo allocated car as my own if it arrives in a few weeks time.
You can try, buy surely if it’s a demo, they will want to use it as such….dunno, you could be right. Stranger things have happened

Interesting. Is your build expected to be included in first delivery?

If my dealer presented a demo car instead of my order I'd be pretty pissed.
I hope so! I’ve had my deposit there for a while and confirmation from Nissan stock control after signing the initial contract back in Feb. The last update was confirmation of colour trim from my guy back in April and that’s about it. The further the delay the more frustrated we, Also put deposit on Manual Supra as the wait time is 6-7 months. I seriously cannot trust these people with their COVID excuses and what not. Although I’m serious fan of Z car but manual Supra might just be the answer if they keep getting me all worked up with lack of communication.
I’ve had ‘94 Supra for 6 years that I’ve been working on -link here :

Managed to get some answers.

1. Have dealers been told how many cars they'll be allocated initially?
No, they are speculating based on pervious releases.

2. Are they being built to order and does Nissan Tochigi have our orders?
Builds are based on reservation data, not built to individual orders.

4. Will shipments to Australia be as ordered?
Again likely based on reservations.

5. Will demonstration vehicles arrive before early orders?
Nissan Australia will likely put some early deliveries aside for media.

6. Can dealerships sell their demonstration allocation?
No such thing, everything in dealership inventory can be sold.

7. Where are our build/VIN numbers?
Not certain that we'll receive these until cars land?!

8. If deliveries are due now, why is there no communication whatsoever?
The million dollar question. Guessing Nissan Japan is tight-lipped.

The fact they say some demonstrators may arrive with the first deliveries, mean most will be for reservations, not dealers per say I would guess?
Using the reservation data to build is pretty much building to order …No? I mean maybe not the later orders because they would be expecting some to cancel, but the majority of people should get what they ordered hopefully.

Did they still seem to think the cars are due end of July?
Thanks for the info!

No, sadly it doesn't seem likely that there's a car sitting in Japan with your name on it.

No one knows but most think August/October is more likely. I've still got my heart set on mid July.

I have a sneaking suspicion that we'll end up with a higher percentage of demo cars initially, just because they'll generate more sales. I hope I'm wrong, and that there are no new supply issues in the next few months, but time will tell. Either way, it's getting close! 😁

There's a bloke on fb who's payed for the entire car! I don't understand the point paying anything more than the deposit until this thing's in front of you.
Damn, I am serious about buying mine, but I don't think I'd drop all that money without keys in my hand.
