Wow, will I actually end up getting the Automatic then, for the exhaust note tunes???
If you'd buy an automatic version of a car JUST for the exhaust... well, not sure what to tell you. Seems like a piss poor decision, especially when you can go aftermarket for less than the price difference of the manual and auto.

"We" don't want it too loud. :)
Many sports cars can be obnoxiously loud, which is a pain in the backside for the entire street when, for example, someone goes to work in it early in the morning. Some are even made to fake the noise louder because it encourages fools believe the car is more powerful than a quieter car.
I definitely want it loud, but that'll be dictated by the aftermarket and the power I'm going for. I don't want it factory "loud" because it's honestly irrelevant to me.

I do understand that some of y'all don't plan on modding and honestly I have no clue why Nissan wouldn't put the dual mode exhaust on both trans options. Like someone said, maybe it's simply because of the synchro rev match button.

I really hope it is. I didnt hear any shift crackles like most other fast shifting autos (none DCT) so it has me wondering...
I don't think it'll be better then the ZF8. All the true JDM cars that have come with similar 8/9 speed autos are not able to match or exceed the speed and logic of the ZF8 hence why Audi/BMW use them in almost every single model.

Also this 9at is MB derived and Jatco produced, so I have my reservations on this Trans after the 7speed they've been made going back to the 2009 G37. If nissan engineers worked some logic magic like Toyota did with the zf8, then maybe the Trans might be good..but slow speed manual shifting is one way of knowing as well as moderate load within middle of rpm range..

Just my $.02

Some cars like the Mustang allow you to set specific times when the valves are closed. Why the manual Z doesn’t come with a way to adjust the valve settings is dumb. Sounds like the auto Z can only adjust the valves when putting it in sport mode. Lots of cars have independent exhaust settings. Guess that’s how they’re keeping the cost low(er) relative to the competition.

The exhaust does sound very good. Glad they didn't go with the cracks of the Supra exhaust as that sound never appealed to me.
Same here. All the cracking in the supra exhaust was not appealing to me at all. The Z exhaust sounds really good to me without being annoying.

Yeah the farther this goes on the less interested I become, the Army Trix exhaust is an option but the cost for that on a 370z is 3k.

We still do not even know the pricing, I'm giving this another 30 days then I'm out. I will opt for a Corvette C7 2014 - 2016 M7 with Z51 package, can get one of those as a one owner with under 10k miles for 50k ish.

I don't have that much experience with Nissan, but find it inexcusable to not have published pricing for a car going on sale in the next 60 days per their committed timeline (Spring 2022). This is ridiculous.

If we aren’t talking about options (which seem limited from country to country) I wonder if it was a cost cutting decision, since most enthusiast are going for the manual. And that most (not all, of course) enthusiast are going to mod their car.

3" exhaust really benefits the VR30DDTT from the turbos down with several configurations to choose from to tailor the sound the way you want. Couple that with either the AMS or the Mishimoto Intercooler upgrade (either adds around 200% increased volume) with a good tune and achieve around 500 (or more as most tuning houses expect great tunability) HP to the wheels.

The design I heard that is aggressive with no drone that flows really well is 3" down pipes to a dual center 3" inlet /outlet muffler (Just like the Borla) exiting dual 3" pipes to dual inline mufflers (Just like the flow master) on the end that flows really well and put out great numbers but has a refined "Gentlemanly" loudness to it. It is made by VPF Tuning.

The point being, is it won't be long before we'll have tons of options and how we'd like our Zee to sound . . .

What is becoming more interesting to me is how we have yet to HEAR the manual. Whether it is videos on the launch or the ride along in the red Z it always seems to be the auto (except for Chen's Bolder Gray revving outside Nissan design office). Are they protecting the manual Z exhaust from us because it will disappoint?

If they gave us a nice discount for picking manual to make up for the aftermarket costs, it'll be fine. But I'm not so sure of that lol
