This guy gets it.

Hat tip to you, sir!

I have a family friend in the construction business where I live, and they have experienced their local dealer egregiously marking up heavy duty work trucks. He has a fleet of 12 Chevy Duramax SRW 3500s and had a catastrophic engine failure on one at 412,000 miles. He decided to lifecycle it. Local dealer wanted $60k or so over sticker for a comparable truck that they actually had in stock. Long story short, that dealership lost not only that sale, but all future sales for this guy's fleet plus the service/maintenance business for his entire fleet of 40 GM vehicles. All for wanting that "quick short pop" as you referred to it.

That dealership stands to lose far more than they might have made on that one sale. My buddy has a lot of friends in the blue collar world and you can bet he shared his experience with them.
Exactly my point.........

This is why if you have a serious warranty claim, bypass the dealer and go straight to consumer affairs.

I ended up in arbitration with Nissan over my 2017 Titan Pro4X. It needed a transmission at 1200 miles. Local dealer dragged it out 3 weeks trying to get me a remanufactured transmission (emphasis: a rebuilt transmission on a brand new $50k truck with 1200 miles on it... that had only been on the market for 3 months at the time). Once I cut the bullshit and went straight to Nissan, I had a new transmission freighted off the line in Canton, MS to my truck's location and installed within 72 hours. Granted this wasn't due to modification of any sort (I wasn't even due for my first oil change yet), there is a layer the dealer can create that will stand between you and an actual resolution, and much of that layer is pure smoke and mirrors because they don't want to deal with it. It is, however, astonishing to see the change in their approach when you go from a customer requesting a repair to corporate requesting a repair.

Know your options.
Agreed 100% Knowing your options is critical. However, even kicking it up to the national corporate level customer care doesnt always work, as they may defer back to local or regional assessors. My point was while MM offers protection, it can be difficult to utilize. You have to have the resources to fight. You said you wound up in arbitration. Did you have to lawyer up? How many people do you know don't have an attorney? Or even know about the Magnuson Moss act? A lot of people don't have the time/know how/energy etc to navigate a fight and wind up just giving up and paying out of pocket for something that should have legally been in their favor. Lies, scare tactics, and run arounds are all tools at their disposal to avoid doing warranty work.

Many lack that foresight to begin with, and it's even easier right now to look past future customer loyalty in this market. I work in the trucking industry and we just added another $300k rolloff to our fleet. Not only did we have to go over 1500 miles to find one that was even close to our desired spec, they tacked on ADM AFTER we placed our order, once it rolled off the assembly line. We were already waiting 4 months at that point. It was no skin off the dealers back because there was a line of other companies ready to take delivery if we walked. This is the commercial version of the fiasco Ford's been going through with the Bronco. The current supply/demand environment doesnt favor buyers at all.

I just got a 2022 Mazda CX-5. I had to get one from a Mazda dealer 40 miles way @MSRP. My local ones wanted $1k over MSRP.
To be fair, everyone of them had less than 10 vehicles on their slots for sale.... Tough time for everyone.
Like many of you, I refused to pay over MSRP for a daily-use vehicle.

I did not have to lawyer up.

Know your options and your landscape. If you can't apply pressure to get results, find someone that can. It's only when you're in a position of ignorance and desperation that people can impose their will upon you. Equipping yourself with knowledge prevents you from being in that position.
That is such a great example. The dealer knife can cut two ways: you need to find a GTR/Zed dealer that believes in the product and will support your claims but they can also roadblock you with warranty. My dealer had a junior guy (the regular Zed service guy was off sick) change my winters to my summers and ruined ALL of my rims (factory). They were scratch and ground to pieces. Dealer trying to cover for the rookie took his side. I went in and made a real scene, as you can imagine. They stood firm. I escalated (not being satisfied with the first two or three levels) my complaint to Nissan Canada and before you new it they had to refinish all the wheels to spec. And they looked better than new. The rookie was fired (nothing to do with me). So there you need to play the dealer (when they will support you) off against Nissan Warranty and then lean on Nissan when the dealer decides to be problematic.

There were two questions in there...

This increase in "sales" people hopping on this forum is quite comical. They all say how they're "different", yet, when challenged, behave no differently. And this is why car salespersons have the reputation they do...

Not sure where you are going with this......but I answered your question. And do not lump us in with other sales people........And I find nothing comical about this at all......

I asked for the name of your dealership. I didn’t see a response to that question. Maybe I missed it?

Might not look good to have a sales manager on an oppsing manufacturers forum looking to buy their car over a WRX …i understand not wanting to declare it to everyone, however if you wanted to know for a purchase purpose, I reckon you would get an answer via PM

Not sure why discussing opposing manufacturers is frowned upon? There are hundreds of posts discussing other manufacturers in this forum, as there are on every single car forum on the internet. Not sure I understand your logic? But then again we don't typically see eye to eye. The poster should not have volunteered he/she is a sales manager at a major Subaru dealer and discusses how poor practice it is to charge over MSRP. I'm simply asking which dealership in the event I want to buy a Subaru. My next ask was to see a line by line sales contract of a sale made today. Merely asking a sales manager at a major dealership to support their claim. What's the harm in that? Poster opened the door. Just asking them to walk through it.

First of all there ARE big problems with offering up contracts online, contracts are private between buyer and seller, not to be handed out like lollies in a forum
Second of all he doesn’t have to prove anything to you, believe him if you want dont if you don’t want too
i don’t understand why anyone would want to be ripped off, but it seems as though your up for it.

Yes there are people on here discussing other cars, none of them are dealers for other car manufacturers.
I know if I went on a forum talking up a different product to what my company sells, and saying I’m going to buy it over what the company I work for sells, I wouldn’t have a job for very long…or at the very least would be hauled over the coals, something which I would try to avoid.

you have no intention of buying a Subaru…if you did PM him you’d probably get an answer
Ill leave it there, I’m not getting into a heated debate, only to say believe what you want, pretty much calling someone a liar with no evidence is not cool in my book
