Go on any modern sports car forum and it's not hard to find posts complaining about how the cars have so much tech in them and are overly complicated, too stiff, squeaking brakes, you name it. All the issues that crop up running race focused cars on the street .

I recall seeing a number of times through the years where people have suggested that a more simple 2000's era, analog retro feeling modern sports car would be awesome.

Then Nissan does it and gets s#it on left and right by people who judge it in ways that weren't high priorities design considerations.

Like the car? Buy one. Don't? Get something else.

Nailed it. Do you want a beautiful car that’s fun to drive and looks gorgeous? I do. We can all play Gran Turismo and boost the intervals. I know I have and that’s how I’ve created the livery my ‘27 Nismo MT is getting in the shop right now. Pic of pending scheme attached.

Or don’t. And just enjoy your beautiful ride. Or drive something else. I don’t care.

In either case, why not appreciate this wonderful community that is full of great, non-judgmental people?

You have obviously NEVER driven a "Z" or those "little 3 or 4 bangers" on a real road!!! Especially ANYTHING with corners !!!
The "Z" gets its arse utterly kicked!!
I’ve driven enough wheezy shitboxes to know that a wheezy shitbox that handles well is still a wheezy shitbox.

The Z is a completely different class of vehicle.

Dont disagree with this at all...

What i do disagree with is a previous poster who stated that cars like the GR Yaris, Civic Type R and such and "Slow" with little 3 or 4 bangers !!
This individual has no bloody idea !! ..

There are far far to many BullSh*t video,s on the net with the sum driving experience of a car based on driving around streets and how good the car is in a good "Pull" ( for Christ sake...a good "pull"! )

"Like the car? Buy one. Don't? Get something else."

Thats exactly what i did........test drove both the STD Z and Nismo.........and by test drive i mean i had the car/s a full day to drive them in places i was familiar with ....not some little effort around the block.

The NEW Z , even the Nismo just wasn't for me....... so i purchased something else.

If i was choosing a car for LONG trips on "normal" roads with a little mix of twisties.....i would gladly take a Nismo Z.....it is an excellent car in this role.

I live in the High Country ( Mountains) of Victoria, with some of the best Undulating, Twisty , roads in Aus..... for this environment/use i purchased a car more suited and a hell of a lot more fun !

The Z here in Aus is pushed as a fully-fledged SPORTS CAR....... it just isnt !
In the role as a GT... it's excellent.

You are getting caught up in labels. It is a sports car by all rational accounts. Twin turbo V6, independent dual A arm suspension, 2 seater, manual trans option, etc

It's not a high level track day car as delivered.

As someone that's sent a Z Nismo and a GR Yaris in the beautiful Victorian Alpes, I can confidently say that I dunno if I would keep up with myself in a GR Yaris chasing down myself in a Z Nismo. Yes in super tight twisty sections yes the GR Yaris will murder the Z Nismo but it would murder a GR Supra or a M2 Comp and even a GT3RS.

I cannot stress enough how much front grip and change of direction the Z Nismo has, it's quite impressive for the weight it carries, but a M2 F87 that's a weapon of a car in the Alpes that I struggled to keep up have no doubts.

Yall are comparing a Z to a bunch of slow cars. A Yaris? An 86? Who told u a 3 cylinder was cool? Need to look up to cool cars like BMW, Camaro, Mustang, Porsche, and hell I’d take a Bupra over those little cars. You have a twin turbo v6 that competes with V8 muscle cars and I hear people bringing up 3 and 4 bangers. Go buy a Civic Type 2Z88MOSESRacing Edition RR VTAK Sport Economy with popper exhaust 😬
Dude no it doesn't. Its barely quicker than a 370Z from 15 years ago. 13.2@108 for the new Nismo. This is 1997 C5 corvette territory. As to handling, we'll have to see how it stacks up objectively once we get some Ring numbers.

Where are you getting these crazy numbers? The Z is way faster than a 370. Stock non-Nismo Zs are trapping in the 113-115 range.

That's the MotorTrend numbers. It's interesting that they still call out 'Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT 600s', which the NISMO M/T does not come with.

Also, the Performance MT, which has less power and doesn't have factory two-piece rotors was tested at 13.0 @ 111MPH. Yeah, the people testing at MotorTrend are retarded...

Motortrend is the only one that's tested it. At first I thought they got a trash launch, but the 0-30mph time is the same as other Zs or so, and the mph is abysmal as you note. Im curious to see C&Ds data, but as of now...yeah, it's is retarded.

Maybe Carlos Ghosn banged the Motor Trend editor-in-chief’s mom, or something?
Im not saying its impossible for the nismo manual z to be faster, but you're sharing videos not of it. It got revised engine tuning, etc. Who knows if its a dud or motortrend is. Considering MT has run much better times in previous Z cars, I'm concerned its the car, but am waiting to see a larger sample size for sure.

I’ll save you the suspense: a Nismo with improved tune, transmission, suspension, tires, and 20 extra horsepower is not going to trap 8mph slower than a non-Nismo Z. Occam’s Razor, man.

That's what I thought, but the only test we have shows just that. I've seen some stupid things. For example, I had a 2019 Mazda 2.5 Turbo CX5, and in cold weather it was a total dog. As in nearly 2x normal 0-60 times. Everyone called BS on me. Everyone called me a liar. Yet every single person who actually put one on a Dragy or datalogged it found the same thing. Then in 2021, Mazda dropped a TSB for cold weather boost cut where the cars cut boost to 0psi in 20f or cooler weather in 1st and 2nd gear. So if I told you a turbo car ran like trash in 20f weather, you'd think that was BS and made no sense to, but there it was. Odd stuff happens. I want to see more data.

Just my 5$ but 0-100km/h in today’s world is so irrelevant to an extent it’s more about lap-times and consistency. If you’re obsessed with 0-100km/h shouldn’t you just go and buy a EV?
I personally find 0-100km/h wars so cringe especially in a world where even my mother can achieve it with a the press of some buttons and engaging launch control…
