I'm not going to argue with you, in Australia there are people making big power with the Nissan VK56, in USA we are just catching up.

The Corolla GR is still kinda on my radar, I don't want to push a 3 popper that hard. The VR30 makes big power gains with much less work, anyways, stock for stock, a Z will absolutely demolish a Corolla GR in a straight line. My priorities are different than yours, you don't need to adopt a defensive tone straight away with me.

I have looked into modding a GRC, it's more work than I want to do, and the car is kinda chintzy (we have a Corolla Hatchback) for the price and the insurance is the same between the Z and GRC. I'd rather have twice the cylinders and displacement and the much better build quality of the Z for the $$$$

Actually took my old Z32 on a 700km "Touring" trip a few days ago......VERY enjoyable.

Nobody here should honestly care what is said about any car tracked on the “ring” not even our Z’s. Unless you are a professional driver getting paid??? Most factory track focused cars have mid brakes and the car he drove wasn’t a Nismo. My Nismo is not heads above the sport or performance, I think the performance is definitely the best option. I got such a steal on my pre own Nismo couldn’t pass it up.

Two different cars, built for different use cases. Pushing a stock performance hard around the track then complaining that’s its soft and not confident is like ordering the most perfect hamburger and complaining that it doesn’t taste like steak.

If Nissan would have stiffened everything else up on the performance and made it more Nismo like, then analysts would be complaining that it’s too harsh and unrefined, brakes are touchy, tires wear too fast, etc. Recall that when the Skyline/G35 sport model coupe was brought To the US in 2003ish, the 6MT with the massive Brembos got hammered for all of these things, and they eventually needed to have a TSB for the brake pads to move people to ceramics. Also recommend different dampers to soften the ride.

You can have everything you want in life, just can’t have it all at once.

Man you hit the nail on the head! It has old school character with that power delivery. More like an 993 or 996 Porsche 911’s when the turbos kick in. I know that sounds crazy cause it’s front engine however the rear squat is so dramatic. I was actually in the market for 2014-2017 Porsche 911 but really wanted a second generation 991.2 with the turbo and electric turbo assist but I’m not overpaying for a ten year old Porsche with no warranty. The Z is 3liter as well with 2 turbos and for the record you’re not buying this setup in any car for less than 90 grand. I’m rambling but this will a modern classic .

Nissan isn’t go to catch Toyota building performance sports cars as they are a tiny portion of the overall market, but they can use the Z to rebuild their tarnished brand and make cars like Frontiers, pathfinders, Xterras and even hybrid rogues a lot more desirable. Growth is in SUVs and trucks.

If there's a die hard truck guy on here, they can disagree, but I believe the consensus in the half-ton space is that they all are having considerably more issues than ever before. The space could use an old school truck.

Nissan is bringing back body on frame RWD V-6 powered trucks and SUVs. Mainly because that’s what they got because unlike other companies, they were going bankrupt when others were doubling down on EV strategies. So this move back to simplicity is really benefiting Nissan.

They have a new body on frame offering in the Xterra, but I haven’t heard that the Titan will return.
