Which Brake Pads for speeds 130MPH+ ?

I have been looking online for brake pads that’s have a good bite for speeds 130MPH+ I’ve read it’s important to get pads pending on the weight of the car as well.

I have the z1 cross drilled rotors as well with oem pads. They get the job done but at higher speeds it’s a tad wobbly for my liking and don’t brake with confidence. I also have AMS stainless line and will swap out the fluid to motul 600. I won’t be Auto X the car , more highway fun. Plus, I will be having more power with z1 turbos , so need to brake better

Wanted some feedback on pads you guys used for those speeds.

Curious as well because these stock brakes are terrible.

Look at operating temps of the pads you look at. Most street pads will provide stopping power from ambient to ~700F, beyond that and the pads will glaze the rotors and you will lose braking efficacy. The rotors can also get warped a little depending upon how many times you brake hard at high speeds. Good brake fluid won't affect the pad/rotor temperature relationship.

I’m still on stock pads but i have experience with aftermarket pads with my s2k. I like Carbotech pads for sure. XP8, XP10 or XP12. I prefer the XP10 even for street. They could bring my s2k from high speeds to zero in very crazy short distances and would never fade from heat… The only issue i had with XP12 is that they would eat my rotors fast and squeal when bone cold.

their street pads are like all the rest - nothing to write home about.

for selection you need to think about coefficient of friction, temperature range, initial bite, modulation, noise, dust, life, and rotor friendly.

for me noise and dust is not a concern - i‘m after performance at any cost - except for eating rotors as fast as pads - lol

the higher temps ratings for the XP pads were not an issue for me - i would make sure i put a little heat in the pads before any crazy braking but even cold the XP12’s were excellent - just a little noisy squeal bone cold, But one mild stop was enough to warm them up. The XP10’s would almost never squeal.

the XP’s will dust like a mofo and wear quickly..

My concern with the Z is the ice mode - i have experienced it on dry pavement and it felt like my old 70’s truck on semi-metallic pads that lasted 100K+ miles - lol. I’m not sure pads will fix the ice mode feature…

The S2K weighs a lot less than the Z so there's that. When I was done with the track I left the carbotech pads on for the ride home and it got cold that evening. I could feel the cold pads not biting well and I had to give myself a lot of distance to properly stop the car. I don't recommend using track pads on the street with a heavy powerful car.

On the track though when those xp10 and 8 pads are hot holy fawk they stop!

I’ve already chewed through the stock pads at 14k miles. I’ve got on the “premium” grade stuff off rock auto or 30$ per axle.

I can come to a complete stop at 156mph just fine.

Unless you are truly track driving or doing a hardish canyon run, just put the cheapest crap on there.

if you are planning to go somewhat hardish, rock auto pst or their metallic high performance stuff will probably be enough.

If you are track driving, run the rock auto PSAs, carbotech (top temp or endurance pads), DTC-70s, gloc r18s. Idk about other brands.

Brake fluid is more important. Rbf 600 seems to be good enough, but I’m not some track star driver, so maybe I’m not fast enough to boil this fluid. Stock brake fluid is TRASH. I’d recommend changing that out fast.

if you aren’t track driving or repeatedly braking for whatever reason, just use the cheap shit.

Have you noticed it being a bit wobbly up there in speeds?

Right but I'm saying stopping a 2800lbs car is not the same as stopping a 3600lbs car. You daily the Z with xp10 and xp8s? Stock rotors?

if you are traveling regularly at 130 mph on the street, don't bother upgrading the brakes, let nature solve the problem for us. Hopefully, stopping will be an issue only once.

If you actually are on a track and need to stop from 130 mph repeatedly, you'll throw your stock brakes and Z1 rotors in the trash, and we should probably be talking about tires too. That is 200tw tires and Ap racing hardware which is designed to survive heat

on my NISMO I was on track and braked from 140mph and the front end was moving around just a little bit under that hard braking
The performance model is the same.

Wanted something slightly better then oem
