I feel like some people might be conflating “tiny performance hit” with “catastrophic engine failure”. No one is saying your engine is going to blow up if you don’t get a catch can.

However, I’ve heard rumors you could become sterile and certain “things” could fall off.

Porsche 911's (996, 997, 991 and 992) have factory catch cans integrated. I will note they now call these AOS or Air Oil Separators, and do not have to be emptied as they drain back into the engine. I guess they're not Catch Cans, they're Catch-and-Release Cans.

Trying to tell myself this my last post on this. no promises.

For those of you that think catch cans (or AOS) do nothing but steal your time and money, you will probably learn a few things from this.

To everyone else, why not turn our insanity up to 11? I like the ‘not having to empty’ part. Price…not so much. Wonder if you could plumb the bottom of a manual drain can into the pan. You’d need a check valve and somewhere safe and reliable to connect the drain. Bottom of the Mishimoto can has an NPT port. Not sure if the guts are made the same though, to deal with the separation, collection and pressure.

Haven’t searched for it, so maybe it’s out there, idk, but it would be nice to know how much they catch vs what makes it through. Would vary system to system and engine to engine though. We can see how much oil it separates out, but how much is that?… 10%? 25%, 75%?

If it’s a respectable percentage, @5amp5ons Triple-Can idea would be supplying biomedical grade clean room air. Open the hood and all you see is a massive network of catch cans.
