Z Oil Filter Japan Made

Hello,

It appears that oil filter 15208-65FIB made in Japan is not available anymore and was replaced by 15208-65F1E.
If so are there any sources available that sells Z oil filter made in Japan?
I just ordered 15208-65FIB from Z1 Motorsport but received 15208-65F1E.

I noticed that my source for the FlB filter has changed to the F1E.

The F1E is made in Mexico. Kind of a bummer but I'm sure it's made to the same specs since it still carries the Nissan brand. I do have 5 left of the FIBs since I bought in bulk last year.

Looks like Nissan moved it's manufacturing for filters to Mexico.

My understanding is they change the letter at the end as they "upgrade" / re-design / remake the filters.

So 64F1A was the first, that was replaced by the 65F1B - The B was the newer version and I heard it was because it handled oil pressure better. There is no "C" or "D" and they went to E. I am not 100% sure on why except that there is a 65F0C and D so maybe it was to not confuse people as easily?

I am guessing the new model number is just because they mfg it in a different location - that would make sense as any changes to the filter they seem to change the last letter.

My research on this basically says as long as you are using a 15208-65F1<x> (where <x> is any letter) you should be good.

The F1E is built in Mexico. i’m trying to avoid the ones built in Mexico.

Why not use the larger capacity GT-R OEM filter for extra insurance? I'm not sure of warranty issues though, will find out locally.

I ordered some from them a couple of months ago but haven't had to use one yet. I just grabbed one and the first thing I noticed was ""Made in Japan" on the box. Under that, the factory marking is "F1B" but there's an "F1E" label over the factory pn, I assume applied by Z1 consolidating their inventory to F1E. The filter is the Japan-Made gray and blue MAHLE. You may actually have B's.

I found some on Ebay for $60 to $300 per filter! LOL.

I'm sure Nissan is ensuring good QA at the Mexican plant, at least I would hope so.

I was going to say- skip all that! As @trackratZ suggests: buy the GTR ‘taller’ filter 15208 9E01A for the same price.

It’s good enough for the GTR and the Infiniti (Q60 Red Sport is the same engine as the Z). I’d rather have that on my engine if Nissan filters available here will be made in Mexico.

Yes, opened it and it's not the F1B made in Japan it's the F1E. I asked Z1 and was told it's the same, of course it's not.
I think most vendors and dealers ran out of the F1B and don't carry it anymore.
I called couple of dealers around and they don't carry the F1B either.

I found a couple of ebay ads for $15 with free shipping. I ordered a couple to see what i get. Good news I still have 9 of 10pcs i bought from melloy nissan back April for $80.

i found Japan 15208-65F00 ebay ads. has same pressure relief as 15208-65F0E. maybe I’ll switch and run 10-30. But may take a while to use up 11pcs of my 1b filters. Lol

With very little searching, and using Amazon AI Rufus) found 3 for $26+$2.50 tax. It specifically shows Genuine Nissan 15208-65F1B Japan boxes in the pic. Amazon Prime for $26 I get free Prime delivery at $10 a pop. Don’t know how long that will last or how many are in stock.

So- it’s worth a try, if I get the wrong filter supplied, I return them to Amazon and get a full refund. No questions asked.

I’ll post my experience in about a week. I’m in CA & won’t get Amazon overnight delivery from Toyota of N Miami (Funny that it’s coming from a Toyota dealer).
