I have the Z1 but haven't installed yet. There are some slight differences between the NISMO version though, hence going with Z1's, as both Mishi nand CZP said theirs didn't fit the NISMO. It's still in pieces (4) and I haven't familiarized myself with it. Assuming some shapes/holes are slightly different between the two, nothng of consequence.

Is there a way to add mesh or something to keep things from getting in, or is it that they're coming in through the grill and not being able to get out? Kinda nuts. Pay ~$400 for something to keep you from removing the shroud and still have to remove the shroud. Well done again, aftermarrket. I didn't do a ton of stuff to my 350's, but I don't remember any of this hassle with fitment and function on anything.
The way air gets in it's going to get in there. The OEM plastic and others don't have a honeycomb grill where that vent is. Now I know why. I don't know why Z1 went with this design but the vent looks like it is riveted on there so maybe could be replaced? Just seems like a silly design to me now that I have a better understanding of how things can get up in there.

Did my third oil change. Got just under 7k on it. Will probably do twice a year no matter what the milage.

Kind of bummed out though. I got the Z1 under-shroud so it would be easier with the "service panel" to do oil changes as the stock plastic one has to be bent down or completely removed.
Sure the added protection of the Z1 being metal is nice but there is a flaw with it. The homeycomb shaped vents do not eject dead leaves. So here I am having to take off the under shroud anyways every oil change to clean out dead leaves.
There are 11 bolts to take this piece off and they are LONG bolts. My fingers / hand were cramping up so bad after removing / cleaning and putting this thing back on. I need to invest in and electric socket wrench or a new under-shroud. This is not fun and I don't want to have to do this all the time.

Anyone else with the Z1 having this issue? I posted in the Moshimoto thread too. I may swap to one of those.

I checked mine and it was clear but I keep it in the garage and don't drive it after November until April, so that may be the reason. Thanks for the heads up though need to keep a lookout for this.

i got a used NISMO OEM one from Z1 a while back for $26 or something like that. Plan was to make my own service panel cutting a hole in mine, and using a chunk from the other one to make a cover. TLDR…it didn’t work.

i do remember the OEM NISMO has two long open slots, no mesh. Z1’s NISMO is the same, no mesh, but the vent is WAY larger on the non-NISMO, so I’m still worried about debris. I assume the fix is removing the mesh. And I believe all 4 parts of mine are aluminum, so the mesh should be too, which should make it easier to snip or dremel/grind out vs steel. If you go that route and it’s not a simple bolt/rivet removal, it’s probably best to grind any protrusions down to keep leaves, debris, (birds, lol!) from snagging and piling up.

I do garage mine too but I drive it year round. Will be checking it again as we turn to fall.

Its coming from the bumper grill. The vents allow your oil pan to cool down, especially when you got a aluminum finned oil pan.

No matter what, you'll get debris in there

Installed some floor lighting. There are lots of places to tuck wires in this car, makes the install nice and neat. There are still a few inches I need to get hidden away but I had enough for today. Love the result.

Today was less about what I did with my Z, and more about what I did for my Z! Today I finally got an enclosed garage area so my Z has a comfy place to call home.

I also traded in my alternate vehicle (2020 subaru ascent) for something that could tow a lot more and wound up with this 7.3L behemoth that will soon chauffer the Nismo around to tracks once I get a car hauler sorted.

This would be my dream garage. How much did it cost with material and permit? What dimension?

30x30, i'll have to confirm the exact amount but the garage was around 16k total and that was not including the concrete work done before which was probably another few thousand. This one is from eagle carports and there really weren't any permits in this area needed since it wasn't going to have proper water/power lines connected
