I actually was looking at a 17 C7 Stingray with LT2 package and a 23 performance Z. They were both relatively in the same price range a few thousand more for the Vette. I was leaning towards the Vette, but the dealership customer service was bad. First they didn’t take deposits to hold used vehicles which I thought was crazy. OK I looked past that, but asked them if they could pick me up at DFW which was about 15 minutes away and they said for safety reasons they don’t do that. I asked them don’t you have a courtesy shuttle when folks drop off cars for service or repair work done? They said yes so I said what’s the difference then I’m flying in to purchase a car from you if everything is good. The other dealer that had the Z was about 45 minutes away, but they had no problem picking me up. In the end I think you can’t go wrong with either one. It’s just whatever your preference may be.

Just traded my 16 stingray in for another Z Performance. Mine had very low miles. Z51, 2LT, 7 speed manual. Two totally different animals. The Z is a much better grand touring car. No comparison in terms of handling. But in the real world, from stop light to stop light, the 9 AT would be right with the Stingray to 70-80 mph. After that it is all Stingray. Here is the problem with the Corvette. The build quality is just not that great. You will HAVE to put up with squeaks and rattles 24/7. Infotainment is horribly slow. And it is a BIG car. Had 30 Corvette's, and went back to a Z. I drive my car every day, and the Z is simply a better everyday driver.

To each its own. But....if the Z came with the DCT, ala GTR, I would seriously consider, much direct shifts. For now, no way giving up the manual, it's a good slightly notchy box! Maybe short shift kit in the future.

I got the transmission I wanted. In the Z, the automatic is MUCH faster than the manual. And it makes for a better DD at my age.
No sports car should have an automatic junk transmission
