Hi all, I myself want to get the new z because i love the look of a sport car besides its performance, I'm curious why do you want to buy an ICE sport car now intead of an EV, for example Model 3 performance that has much better specs than the z ? For me it just doesn't look as good as the z and that's the only reason.

This is the best time to buy the last of ICE cars and for those who love ā€œdrivingā€, Specs and 0-100 means nada. Itā€™s the connection with the ICE cars that responds not just with acceleration and handling but with grunts and vibration. Itā€™s the Oneness that we long for when manually shifting through gears and pushing the limit of the car and yourself. Nissan is good at making cars like this, from 240 to R35 and knowing some of their engineers volunteered to work on Project Z, it may just be the car you want to keep forever (and tweak as you go along to make it your own). Hence I choose Z

it's hands down the best looking jdm car right now. it has most of the best parts taken from previous Z's. i think it's retro styling will stand the test of time...

i had a manual 04 tree-fiddy and even though it couldn't hold a candle to my supras or rx7s, it was still an awesome fun daily driver.

The price. 40k for that kind of performance is really good value imo. But the rollout of these things is so slow that I'm considering getting a used M2 or M240i at this point. I can't wait forever for this thing

@GeelongCats pretty much summed up why I want a Z perfectly, so I won't try paraphrasing šŸ˜†

Imo performance metrics start to become irrelevant on the road somewhere around where the Z is performing, maybe less than that even, and the rest of the package becomes a bigger consideration.

In this segment the Z is the best looking in my opinion, has good performance and is reasonably priced for me.

the new c8 looks fantastic but just too hot for a daily for me. I want to drive my car for daily needs not for only special occasions, also there are quite a few issues due to being first gen design with the c8 (read their forum for these). The z otoh is likely more reliable and just the right amount of horsepower for both being a daily and fun driving car and the retro and lowkey but classic look has a more timeless element. Except for the damn square grill. I hope there are some aftermarket product that can change that look.

Yep time is money and we don't live forever. This new COVID or whatever induced reality of waiting around years for things doesn't work for me.

I'm mostly about nostalgia. I bought my first new Nissan in 1995, a cheap 200SX, but what I always wanted was the Z32 TT that was sitting on the floor for $48K.

A little bummed we don't get t-tops this time, but overall happy that the 3.0TT is back. I never liked the 350 or 370 because I have a hangup about a TT Z.

As for BEV, my good friend has a model 3 performance. With the software upgrade that made it a touch faster. It's ballistic. I've driven it a few times. Meh. It feels like IKEA on the inside. I'd love to be onboard because I really like Elon Musk, but I actually prefer the older style of regular interior with lots of buttons and gauges.
I also think my VQ37 Q60 with Infiniti Sports exhaust is far more enjoyable to drive, especially with an open window. The howl of the VQ is amazing and it adds a lot to the overall experience. Despite the Infiniti coupe being a damn pig with a horrible 7AT, still prefer it.

Maybe someday I'll get a BEV as a commuter, they make great appliances!

Anyways, nostalgia is my main attraction. I give zero effs that some other car is faster. The new Z is already dangerously fast and no matter what you drive you're eventually going to run into someone faster. Well, unless you buy a Plaid

First, memories and nostalgia. My first 240Z was my second car in high school, after sold a '70 Barracuda built in Auto Shop (remember those days?). I was hooked by its lightness and handling and current Z is my 5th. Secondly, the exciting early years for Datsun/Nissan competition. SCCA champs for several years, the days of Bob Sharp (Z), John Morton and Peter Brock (510), Harvey brothers (2000 roadster), others. Nissan was exciting up until a couple of decades ago, then kind of stagnant.

But also the new Z still embodies true Nissan blood 100%, a huge draw. Yeah I know it's mostly parts-bin 370Z and not the best performer against the competition but so what, still has pure roots as the last of ICEs, i.e. the last of the Z generation before HEV or BEV power. So, grab one and modify it with awesome exhaust sounds, tuning, coilovers, what ever. Why I'm still hanging around here LOL.

I tested drive the 300z in 1996 during a light mist of rain on a backroad and ended up in a ditch because the slippery surface at a slight turn, in the end I went with the supra but always has a thing for the 300z' look, yes the look of z now appealing to me because of this nostalgia for sure.

300zx was so cool in the 90s. Man, thatā€™s what got me for this car.
