Installed my nismo intake

was not that bad thanks to all the posts and AMS instructions.

The AMS 80mm instructions has more detail for the spring clips on the air box than the standard AMS intake instructions. The clips are nice - you pop them out with a screwdriver and they will stay open in a locked position.

the hose clamps on the turbo side were not tight and easily loosen with a flat head screwdriver.

Installing the passenger side hose on the turbo housing was a blind shot - 100% by feel to get it seated. with my hands out of the way I was able to see that it was seated.

i installed the new hose clamps with a 1/4 drive ratchet w/ locking flex head and a deep well socket. except for the driver side turbo hose clamp, i used the same long flat head screwdriver i used to remove it.

i used super lube silicone brake grease on both ends of the hoses.

If all you’ve known is the stock intake, do yourself a favor and take a drive with the covers off. The best way I can explain it is … it’s pretty rad.
That's why I love the K&N intakes! They're the perfect hybrid setup.

I went middlin’ and put the covers back, but drilled and deburred what seemed like 1,800 holes in them though.

Nothing like paying a premium for a specific model of a car because there’s no need to modify anything.
Then modifying things.
And even when the modifications are the same brand as the car that you thought you’d never modify, you find a way to modify the modifications.

Oh well. Things could be worse. I could be posting on a Mustang, Charger or Challenger forum right now.

It's how we make them our own! I haven't owned a vehicle yet that hasn't been customized or modified in some form or fashion.

I don’t want to calculate what I spent on mods before it was even a year old, mainly because there’s a non-zero percent chance my wife would find it. But it makes me happy.
At least my thing is throwing money at my car. It could be something like coke, hookers, strangling chickens or whatever weirdos are doing these days.

100% this! I could be into way weirder shit!

Just sitting here researching intakes for my Jeep, looking at some various properties up north, and petting my cat after my wife dominated the White Claw factory....

Got the Z out for a wash this morning and as I'm coming through the neighborhood I stopped to talk to a good dude that is always working on trans ams and Camaros that he buys and rebuilds and sells. We were chit chatting and he checked out the Z and said "what does this make like 180 hp?".

I said "let's go for a ride". We have lots of open space around us so I went to my favorite launch control area and he was very impressed!

So I did some LS1 to Z diplomacy today. He went on and on about how hard it pulls and how he had no idea that Z's were built for performance like that.
