So driving to work this am the temp was the same as it's been, middle 40°s.

In the neighborhood the car definitely wanted to "go" a bit more than normal.

Get out on the roads after leaving the neighborhood, noticeably more growl from the exhaust under acceleration.

My entire commute except the very end is 45mph or less. Engine is smoother for sure.

The last part of my drive, I make a right and go a half mile on a state highway. I nail the throttle and snatch 2nd gear every morning and get a bit through 3rd gear as well. The tires broke loose with a good bit more authority in 2nd gear this morning. I did get more "whoosh" when letting off the gas this morning too.

I work on a military installation so there's a drive coming into the gate. Less jerky this morning slowing for the speedbumps, etc. Leaving the guard shack with my windows still down, I could hear the turbos spooling up, echoing against the wall. I normally don't hear that.

Nothing earth shatteringly different this morning, but there's a definite improvement. I'm happy. I'll take it.
I hear them after 3k-4k rpm and get louder on and after 3rd gear, I feel the differences in throttle but I still need a tune on my MAF sensors for 3” tubes.

I hear that swoosh all the time now, but I put the lids in the evening, since we start off at 40 degrees and gets to 80 by the end of the day in Texas. I’m wondering why ams sells the basic ones without the box for 399$.

it feels like these no happy in between

I'd volunteer the K&N intakes as being that ideal in-between. Metal 2.75" inlet pipes for improved flow & sound, airboxes for heat protection, but seal up against the hood rather than having enclosed lids. This allows them to be quite audible.

What did I do today? Just enjoyed my Z. ;) The weather has been next to perfect here in SE Texas and the Z is just the cherry on top.

I've had my Z Sport for just a little less than an year now and I still think it's a wonderful sports car, especially for the price. I'm in the Houston metro and spotting fellow Z owners is still few and far between. Since the release of the Z, I've only seen one other red Z and not many more of any other color or version. It still attracts a lot of favorable attention, with, I'm sure, a lot of folks not being able to figure out what there're looking at.

Dude what grinds my gears is better options far cheaper than Nismo, Why!? I get brand exclusivity but its usually the opposite in my experience 😭 I paid 600 for Nismo intakes when either 80mms AMS and this retail for like 400-499 bucks, with better options from what I’m seeing.

I don't see many either here in Houston! A black Nismo a few times and an orange Heritage once.

Glad to see another Z owner in the region. The only orange Heritage I've seen was at a dealership last year. I loved the look but the dealership wanted an arm and a leg for it.

I was at a local Nissan dealership for some routine stuff several weeks ago. They were surprised to see a red one.

Are y'all going to Z fest in Austin? It’s around April! We should meet up

I'm in Houston as well (Heights). We should all link up one day.

I wasn’t aware of the Z fest. I may have to check it out. Sounds like a great place to meet up and to see some other Z’s. I’m still all stock but am interested in seeing what others have done with their Z’s.

Almost ten years ago, I had a 124 Spider. I tagged up with a bunch of Fiat owners in Kerrville to do the Three Sisters run. Tons of fun and a very enjoyable drive.

Project Sound Deadening made that crappy little Bose subwoofer sound a fair bit better! Just got back from my test loop and quite satisfied with the improvement considering minimal cost & effort. You can actually hear/feel the bass now, along with improved clarity.
Could you walk me through the steps for removing and reinstalling the trunk hardware? I'm a total beginner at DIY car work, but since you mentioned it’s low cost and effort, I’d love to take this on. Any 'newbie' tips would be much appreciated!

Yup, super easy, the only tools needed are your two hands. You do not have to remove any plastic panels.

Remove the trunk carpet and plastic tray that supports the carpet. Unscrew the hand knob holding the round Bose subwoofer in place and lift up and move aside out of the way (no need to unplug). Lift out the round plastic sub support. Remove the center formed foam piece.

On each side, you'll see a small round plastic clip holding down the side foam pieces; pry or pull up and they'll pop right off. Now you just need to wiggle & jiggle; it'll take a little muscle to work then out, but don't force anything as you don't want to break or crack them. It's not hard or time consuming, just feel it out.

That's it! You've stripped your trunk and can apply sound deadening material as you see fit. I had a total of 11 sq/ft but could have used just a bit more; I'd suggest ordering 15 sq/ft.

Reinstall everything back in reverse order.

Enjoy!
