I have a feeling this thing is going to be a significant step up from the RS. For one thing, it should be lighter than the almost-3500 lb RS by a few hundred pounds - the current Corolla hatch is only 3000 lbs....
And for another thing, it should have a head gasket and rear diff that should last longer than 10,000 miles!

Wow, awesome video!
It would so chap my ass if the GR-FOUR actually goes on sale before our Z.

From what we know, Toyota is revealing the car tomorrow, and it will be on sale in October. 6 months.

How long have we been waiting for our Z?
They're repurposing a lot of parts from the GR Yaris too IIRC, which is a similar tactic Nissan took with the Z. And yet yep, your point is spot on about timing.

I get the feeling I'm going to pick one of these up as a daily before I get a Z. Makes more sense for me given what our car situation is about to be and who knows when we'll hear anything official about a Nismo Z, let alone see it released and be able to get one without ADM.

My only real concerns with the GR-FOUR are with the exterior styling but hopefully the reveal tomorrow lays those to rest. I'm sure they'll be some sort of mark-up on the first batch as well so I'll probably still be waiting until next year before I get anything new for myself ?

My wife has a Corolla hatchback. I think it looks awesome. Aside from being kinda low on power, I feel it's a great little car. I seriously might take a swing at buying one, they should be rare and hard to get, so it's unlikely to derail my Z plans as I would be unlikely to find one without markups.

I like the way the hatchback looks as well, I just meant I hope they didn't F it up with the GR treatment. They have a habit of screwing up the front and sides on cars while mistaking it for aggressive styling.

Ha, wouldn't surprise me. Other manufacturers make an announcement....launches in few months. Nissan is taking like 2 years. Lol

^ The real question is why would you want to? ;)

It's just another standard family car that has had a few tweaks to make it seem like a "hot hatch", and an over-sized price hike. You're probably better off getting a proper sports car designed to as such.

Yeah…I said this before, ain’t no one in Aus looking at a Carolla unless they are over 70 with a blue rinse

For those of you that don't know this isn't just a "Corolla" family car. This is essentially the US version of the GR Yaris, which has gotten lots of high praise from just about every enthusiast car reviewer and media outlet. It's going to weigh around or under 3000LBs while making ~268HP and it comes with a manual. This car is going to be a great bargain; probably priced around or under $40k.

A LOT of people are going to want this car. Probably more so than the new Z.

I'm a little shocked that no one has leaked this yet. In recent history every other upcoming Toyota product was plaster all over the web days and weeks before the official debut. ?

from reddit:

Quote:
In Google ad suggestions the upcoming GR Corolla’s horsepower, torque, and other details such as aggressive styling, sport bucket seats, circuit tuned suspension, with front and rear Torsens were shown. It will have 300 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque from the 1.6l turbo paired to a 6 speed manual and the GR-Four drivetrain.

So the one time that I actually want ads to show up, they won't ?‍♂
