Hello,
This morning when I started my 23 Z manual Performance I heard this sound. It was the first time the temperatures had been in the mid forties overnight here. Any ideas what could be causing this or where this could be coming from? It sounds similar to a bad bearing to me? I will see if it does it again tomorrow morning I will take it to the dealer. Thank you.

It makes this sound while parked and not in gear? Best way to find it is to get under there while the engine is running and start grabbing stuff. Obviously use some protection if you're going to grab the exhaust.

Btw, I think I want to sample this sound :cwl:

You have my permission. I will see if it does it tomorrow morning. Car was not in gear and parked. I had started for the first time.

@Meg_Z While I was changing the oil in my Murano yesterday I heard a weird subtle whistling sound coming from the oil fil port as I was pouring oil in. Strange times.

Yes it did and this morning when I started it (about same temperature) didn’t hear it either. I will continue to keep an eye on it.

Just a shot in the dark - sounds like the accessory’s drive belt or one of the pulleys.

I’ve had this same noise several times now. ā€˜24 6mt, happens during cold start in the morning. To me it sounds like sth in the transmission or clutch. If you disengage the clutch the noise goes away. But it goes away eventually when car’s warmed up.

I think you’re correct, now that I think about it. After the initial start and hearing that noise it went away after I engaged the clutch to back up. So far I haven’t heard it again during morning cold starts and keep my phone ready to record. I had a complete fluid change, transmission, differential, brakes and oil about than 3 months ago. I plan on replacing the clutch fluid this weekend.

I’ve replaced the clutch fluid already at ~7000km cuz I had a clicking clutch pedal. Specifically when releasing the clutch, right near the top of the travel you feel/hear a click. It’s more of a sensation than a noise. I checked the clutch fluid and it was DARK ( I commute in a big busy city with lots of traffic so my clutch pedal gets plenty of use). So I replaced the fluid with Motul 5.1. It got better for a few days and now it’s back again… I’ll bring it to Nissan if it gets worse. As for the whistle whiny noise, it’s very intermittent so I’m keeping an eye on it for now.

Sadly sometime hear/feel that clicking sound too. I purchased my Z pre owned it had low miles, but you never know what you’re getting. I will see if there are any changes after I change the clutch fluid this weekend.

I've noticed this clicking noise/sensation as well. I assumed it was a faulty bushing inside the passenger compartment at the clutch pedal pivot point. I had a similar issue on my G37 (fixed under warranty). On my Z it seems to come and go. It hasn't been consistent enough for me to visit the dealer. However, my non-powertrain (basic?) warranty runs out in April 2026 so I'll definitely have it checked before then.
