Dealer got back and said the M/T is good for sale, so I asked what Nissan did to release it, here’s the reply:

“Absolutely nothing. We found out it wasnt on a stop sale at all. Someone from nissan asked why we didnt sell it yet and we told them it was on stop sale and they said it wasnt”

Maybe only selected VINs, those 174 on the svc bulletin, who knows?

The only thing that has me question everything is that the cars that are just showing up with MT now at the dealerships have like an 03/22 build date.. Why'd it take 10 months to ship the cars ? Was production halted for that long while they waited for replacement transmissions? Why are some people being told the car(The new ones that just rolled in) is pending recall/replacement, while others are being told it's good to go?

I think maybe they have been replaced already but won’t update if it has been replaced. So, build date is correct but the transmissions in those cars have been replaced

Build dates and deliveries can vary hugely. Maybe a brand supplier of that 2nd gear grind (synchros, seals, ??) had the issue and only some batches affected. I'd really like to know what's behind the real issue and which VINs affected. Search NHTSA and service bulletins, good luck! Any murder/mystery eventually gets solved 🤣

Wasn't the shifter plate also an issue on the 370s which were affected by the slave cylinder recall?

What else was/were known issue(s) of the 370Z, non-engine related, that's bound to come up on the new Z?? Nissan didn't really address a few of them it looks like, not good.

Known:
- poor suspension geometry (I bet you already knew that)
- Akebonos never really were all that good
- underperforming Bose system

Unknown:
- dash cracking (someone who owned a dash cracking Nissan/Infiniti and now has a new Z said it seems possible it could be the same dash material

Were wheel bearings an issue in the 370s? My 07 350z ate 3 rear wheel bearings in the first 50k miles. Hopefully that got fixed by now.

At least the CSC (clutch slave cylinder) is no longer inside the transmission, that was a painful issue!

Ok, I'm not absolutely sure, so take my observations with a grain of salt.....

I do remember that reputation for the first generation FM platform.

With the 370/G37, I don't recall that being an issue later on. Nissan struggled mightily with a few issues on the second gen FM platform, VQ37 valley gasket, adaptive headlights, steering wheel column lock, excessive tire wear. By 2012, almost all of those issues were resolved. The valley gasket was changed from paper to metal, the adaptive headlights and steering column lock were completely removed from production, and tire wear greatly improved.

My 2014 has absolutely none of those issues, including no wheel bearing issues, at 60k miles.
