RZ34 Backup camera replacement

I'm sure it can be done relatively easy but I can't find info about the OEM camera voltage and video signal. Has anyone upgraded theirs?

The low resolution of the camera on the infotainment screen doesn't bother me as much as the jittery framerate. Sometimes when I put it in reverse and the music is playing the music will cut in and out. The Infotainment system is smooth otherwise. Just when the reverse camera is initialized is when things get laggy.

Odd thing is Nissan lists this part as "Front" but in the notes it says Backup Camera. I'm going to attempt to get specs for the part directly from Nissan. Probably won't work but wish me luck! lol

Any updates on this from nissan? Or has anyone done a tear down on there car yet? I'd love to swap in a Foxeer or Runcam FPV starlight camera :-D

I just wonder if simply replacing the camera will help or if there is an issue deep within the head unit's core/code. It could be something like how Netflix attempts to stream 4k HDR and 5.1 surround: Pitifully.

I don't think it's the camera, I think it's the video processing hardware for the multifunction display. I don't think there's enough processing power to adequately handle the video.

I think its because the camera they installed is more inset in the rear panel vs the OE camera. What you are seeing the the round hole of the rear panel.

dude the rear camera on the newer Nissan models are crips and clear with the same exact infotainment screen, imagine my shock and horror when I noticed the potato Quality at night. I’m curious if nissan parts website has the ability to sell them, I’m just wondering if the cables are the same or different.

Search this site for a yt video post from someone in Japan. They made a custom mount with a better camera but the part isn't available unfortunately. I sent a suggestion to Escort to make a rear cam that integrates into their drive smarter app.

The person from Japan makes them occasionally however, but what sucks is waiting for the next batch.

in the meantime I managed to get by turning off the predictive parking turn lanes
