Motul 10w40 for the win! Was suggested to me by a tuner that I trust on my last VR30 and I had no issues whatsoever. The winter number doesn’t really matter unless you live in a super cold climate. Where I live we never hit those temps. But it does get well over 100 quite a bit. “Oh no, you’re going to void your warranty! Oh no, you’re going to hurt the engine!” Nah, I think I’ll be just fine.
How much power is you making? 😂

I think people stress out way too much with regard to oil weight. And brand for that matter. It’s far more important to just pick your favorite brand that floats your boat and change your oil as frequently as you’re comfortable with.

I agree with this sentiment. I have run mobile 1 extended performance in all my cars for a very long time, and never had any issues, and don't suspect I would. It's rare to have a lubrication related failure if you are changing the oil consistently and using a nigh quality synthetic. I run mobile 1 5-30 extended performance in my Z and it's been perfectly fine.

Obviously. I'm asking because I'm wondering why you use 10w40.
Ooohhhh…. Gotcha. Well based on the suggestion from Seb. VR30’s are known to run hot when pushed. I’m not even into the power adding stage of my build yet. Knowing that running 40 weight isn’t going to hurt anything at all and the fact that where I live gets to over 110* in the shade, I just automatically started my engines life with the oil it’s going to get. Just how my brain works I guess 🤷🏻‍♂️.

P.S. Seb didn’t suggest Motul specifically. Just a high quality full synthetic.

Dayamn! Over here the hottest it can get is about that, but hot summers are average 90F. I took a 40min drive today on the highway in 86-90F varying ambient temperature, and my oil never exceeded 172F. The upgraded oil cooler really helps. I'm also running 5w30 motul.

I was wondering about that! The CZ cooler?

Yup! The oil temps are just overall lower. I haven't tracked it yet but I did see someone on yt with a cz cooler, not sure if it was on a new Z or not, but the oil temp flatlined at 250F. Also the track definitely was not anywhere near the north east. I saw someone on here cut the oil cooling vent on the under shroud to provide more air flow, so I did that too.

That was me who trimmed the ducting. Between that and the aluminum oil pan, my temps are running noticably cooler than they did prior. Still on the stock oil cooler at this point.

Ah yes! I see you left the middle part in. I cut that part out. I'm surprised CZ doesn't sell a special aluminum under shroud to accommodate their oil cooler.

I like the idea... Did it get too flimsy or is it still rigid enough? Now that you've mentioned it, I better do that too this weekend 🧐

I didn't notice any "loss in structural integrity" lol na flimsyness works better.
