Chevy 6.2L L87 recall. They are checking for crank / piston DTC, if you have the code they are replacing the engine. If not, they are changing 0-20 oil to 0-40 and hoping they push you out of warranty before engine failure. So 0-20 must be for emissions not reliability? Supposedly, this is an issue with contamination and ”quality” issues with crank bearing / connecting rod / crank shaft similar to tundra’s recall.

This is the OEM filter everyone should be using. The 65FOE and 9E01A are identical filters other than the 9E is longer with a larger capacity, and more filter media.
Honestly, no offense but says who? Has someone verified the pressure differential across the filters are identical? Is the particulate filtration identical? Any time I see bigger is better, as an engineer, I stop.

Trying to figure out which filter based on RELIEF VALVE setpoint in the filter:

15208-65F1B (made in Japan by Mahle) : 250 kpa / 36 PSI
15208-65FOE: 98 kpa / 14.2 PSI
15208-9E01A: unknown. My google-fu is weak
Mobil 1 M1-108A: 103 kpa / 15 PSI
Mobil 1 M1-110: 103 kpa / 15 PSI

Per Z1 Motorsports:

*ATTENTION*
If you are using a heavier oil weight than recommended in your FSM, we recommend using the 65F0E filter to allow the heavier oil to flow properly.

So very clearly at least someone has looked at this. I think it’s a terrible idea to use a filter just because it’s bigger when the flow properties are different. Call me crazy.

I’m at the dealer and the say the top number is spec, and the bottom number is alternative due to back order issues and they believe the two are the same filter with different manufacturers.

I’m waiting for the top number to be available thank you.

I use the longer filter on my Murano, checks out
I have a 3.5L Murano and the tall filter is not the correct filter for that car either. To each his own, but the tall truck filters the dealer sold me are being returned.

Didnt know GTR is identified as a truck 🤔
The 15208-9E01A is used on GTRs. A few of us use this filter and havent seen any issues with it

What -neg experience have you seen or been involved with using the "truck" filter?

No experience at all. They’re out of spec so I wouldn’t try it.

How do you know which is the correct filter?

First oil change at the local dealership a few weeks ago. They installed 15208-65F1E. Per Nissan it "Replaces 65F1A and 65F1B."
