They should bring an affordable diff cooler over as well. I know Nismo made one but its . . . Nismo priced

There are a few things I've seen where the price wowed me.
- NISMO diff oil cooler and Ti tower bar
- HKS exhaust and carbon tower bar
- Everything from Top Secret

I assume you could get a core, pump, hose, fittings, etc., and make your own diff cooler, but it would be a pain. The NISMO one does look nice, but the price is ridiculous.

Do they require a different cover, or do you use the drain and fill plugs to connect to the pump/core?

Both Z1 and Alaria Tech have diff coolers for about $1K for the Z34.
Is there any reason they won't fit a diff for an RZ34?

The only thing missing is a temp sensor that is wired to activate it when you want, instead of having it on all the time or having to turn on/off manually, but i don't think those are that hard to add

Beauty!

What would be the benefits to this over stock?
NISMO Trim, if that mattes (which I don't think it does, since it shares the LSD with the performance model)

a clutch type LSD should lock harder than stock
and also, in theory, rebuildable to lock 1/1.5/2 way and also different levels of lockup

Dont know advantages (or disadvantages) without knowing the specs of the OEM diff, 1 way vs 1.5 way and the locking angle(s). Google bot says the OEM is a 1.5 way unit, but it’s not always right, so idk. The NISMO units above are 1.5. If OEM is 1 way, the main advantage is going to a 1.5 with this diff and gaining different rear end characteristics off-throttle and under braking. It’s also adjustable, so you can change the locking angles to be slightly more or less aggressive, depending on how it’s set out of the box.

Their has always been a Pro Series mechanical LSD from Nismo under the part number
38420-RSZ154C, with 3 modes, Low, Medium, High, 6.5 kgf, 8.5 kgf, 14kgf respectively. The only main difference this model offers is a lower profile, the cam angles aren't as harsh and offered as a 2 way directly, while my GT LSD Pro comes either both 1.5 or 2 way; just have to disassemble the Diff and change the cam angles. Reviewing the Specs, this diff is mainly just a street-able one, though it can leave things to be desired over say the Pro unit, or even stock. Though, this LSD over OEM has double the locking springs which help it lock with less play in essence, I don't really see why they made this one, as the Pro comes with higher adjustability and is 800$ on Nengun, if it's only diff chatter (which I had) it's easily overcome by additives. Still nice to know Nismo makes parts, especially for the AT as well; they have such a plethora for the MT in comparison.

The OEM unit is 1.5 way, with I believe 6 clutch plates, the cam angles mainly decide how responsive it is to locking, while a specific combination of cam angle and the locking mechanism for increased torque below. The stock Nismo also has an upgraded differential compared to the performance AT; the same is for the new manual variant. Any more questions regarding diff behavior is also welcome.

Thanks for finding this
six plates gives us a comparison point to other options

OS Giken, for example, advertises their units can fit "up to" 28 plates

More plates = more lockup, although there are other factors

also curious what sort of maintenance Nissan is recommending for the diff

IIRC, it is generally recommended to change diff fluid annually at minimum, more if high use

Also, at least in the Z34 world, users have generally needed to run a diff cooler after experiencing overheating even at stockish power levels

What timing! I do not own a Z, but I do have a V1 Nismo 370z.
If anyone here has a OEM Clutch type diff they'd like to sell me after they buy the Nismo upgrade DM me!
