I installed the CZP heat exchanger last week, you can order it in the raw aluminum. As I have no experience with these; quality, construction and structural integrity aside, the CZP appears to have the largest core, frontal surface area and coolant capacity, followed closely by AMS.
Chart below from CZP shows coolant capacity, which is important, bit I believe the core size/volume is the most important as thatās whatās doing the actual cooling. Descriptions specify āvolumeā and Iām not sure if that means specifically the core.

My only beef with CZPās and Z1ās is they appear to be powder coated, and powder coating (and paint) affect thermal conductivity. Not sure how much exactly, but it does. And to powder coat the fins of a heat changer thats sole purpose is to transfer heat rubs me the wrong way. We do clear chromate conversion on our bare aluminum parts for corrosion resistance, its invisible, and the cost is comparable to powder coating. Our parts donāt see as much heat as these would, so not sure if that plays a part.
I was thinking about this. Did the dealership offer a reduced labor cost for installing the heat exchanger? Can you share the labor cost of the installation?I got the NISMO heat exchanger installed, when I did the harness recall. I have been out of town, so haven't been able to notice any difference.
The dealer made several other changes. I bring the parts to them. For the heat exchanger install they charged me $985.50.I was thinking about this. Did the dealership offer a reduced labor cost for installing the heat exchanger? Can you share the labor cost of the installation?
Nice to hear, just got my Mishimoto in. I went with it cause I got it for $300 brand new in box and I was going to actually buy "M" anyway. Putting in next couple of weeks. When I see what people get charged to do this work, I'm so glad I do the work myself.I went with the Mishimoto HX. It's a breeze to install and comes with a bleeder screw that eliminates the need of vacuum bleeding with an air compressor. Results have been amazing, the car continues to pull without robbing me of power!
That's a good deal on this! Yeah, I feel the same. I try to get the most out of my garage hahaNice to hear, just got my Mishimoto in.
