Think people are missing the point.
This is not a cheap car..yes you can swap it out, yes you did without one not that long ago.
The fact remains, you’re paying a price that should have a high resolution camera.
That’s the point.
It’s like the stealership argument. Yes it’s market forces, yes the car is in limited supply…it doesn't mean you should pay more for the car that essentially is not worth the money.
Again, the more people accept mediocre behaviour from dealers, or mediocre equipment in a car that should have better the more the dealers and manufacturers will push the boundaries
Is it a breaking point….probably not, we are not buying the car for the reverse camera.
But is the camera good quality? Come on guys…it’s not, and it should be better for the price of the car and the year it’s built
Perhaps some people are missing the point but
Exactly this. Some folks on here are in the honeymoon phase and being borderline delusional. Which is understandable; getting a brand new car is always exciting and I'm sure overall the new Z is a fun car.

HOWEVER, settling for less leads to Nissan not wanting to improve their products. As consumers we should be pointing out faulty and/or low quality features that need to be improved, so future model years get improvements. The camera quality is one area that obviously needs improvement as they're clearly using the same damn reverse camera from 2009 that was in the 370Z.

Not to mention that fact that multiple owners have stated on this forum that the backup camera on their Z randomly stops working in general.
Lol i don't think anyone is delusional (not that I've seen). Some of us just don't want to sit around and bitch all day. I get it the camera isn't great, but how long are we going to sit and beat a dead horse on a forum? Im enjoying the car for what it is. We've kinda beat it to death at this point.

As someone who hasn't even seen a Z yet (I've now seen 2 Ariya and 1 GR Corolla) I'm getting a bit salty that people who are privileged enough (let me point out that paying MSRP or even slightly above, and even the luck of finding a Z in the first place, is PRIVILEGE) are complaining about things that don't matter (to me, admittedly) and to me it seems "unfair" that a car I've waited so long for, and can't get, is falling into the hands of some people who are miffed by things that don't represent a Z, and will likely trade-in or sell the Z in 2 years anyway.

Everybody else who loves the Z they have, I'm happy that those cars found the right owner.

Could the lack of some basic things like automatic folding mirrors and a shitty recycled reverse camera be the result of chip shortages over the last couple of years?

I'm not sure the intentions of all the posters, but my posts are meant to inform future buyers.

I'm guessing most Z shoppers would like to have an awesome backup camera, but place more value in HP, 0-60, power-to-weight ratio, cornering, and bang for the buck, but if you care about the backup camera (or whatever), here's the info. That one of the reasons I love this forum: chock full o' info.

Considering all the other tech Nissan added to this car (sonar and radar sensors, AI cameras, etc.) It does seem odd that the backup camera isn't better.

Anyway, I love my Z, subpar backup camera and all.

This is my first car with a backup camera. Do I like it? Yeah, it's awesome. It it low res and pretty meh for a $53k car? Yeah. Do I still love the car? Absolutely.
This is my point…it’s not a deal breaker, but people should be honest and say it is mediocre

The car is still great …I suppose my real point is, put in a decent one of your trying to appeal to a tech savvy market..or leave it out all together if your going for the purist

nah, because their Quashi is much better

And @takemorepills I also get your point.
But you wouldn’t buy a Z for a big mark up, because you wouldn’t think its worth it…just as if you pay good money what’s in the car should be up to date
Again…not a deal breaker, not saying I wouldn’t love a Z, only that if they are putting it in, better make it worth while. Especially when the other cars on their line up are pretty good, otherwise don’t put it in, in an attempt to drag the car into the 2020s

I paid 20k over list to get one of the first in Canada, the used car broker probably gave the original owner 10k more and marked it up 10k extra. I had a new Corvette on order for what seems like an eternity, am number 95 on the list and figured the hell with that. I saw this car on auto trader and figured I'm not waiting so I bought it.

I fully understand it's a loss but my son is 16 now and after his driving lessons I want to teach him how to drive a standard. I figured this car could be his one day if my new Corvette (or something else that peaks my interest) ever comes along.

I owned a 300z back in the day and loved it and when I saw the back end of the new z it awoke an instant nostalgia in me.

A little feedback.... I had a deposit of 5k on the new Z before almost anyone in my area and it was for the proto spec. Six months later the dealership called me in and told me the Sales Manager was keeping their assigned proto spec for themselves. I got my deposit back and walked at that time to order the new Corvette.

It's been a crap shoot getting any desirable new car in Ontario so I figured this time around I would just bite the bullet. As crazy as it sounds, I don't regret it at all, it's the first time in a long time I go out driving just for fun and my son begs to come along. You cannot pay for those memories and one day he will tell his son how much fun he had with his dad in the new Z.

PS. This is my actual car:

It's legally required to have backup camera over here. Not sure about Australia.

I don't think the gasoline engine sports cars are dead quite yet. However, I agree that in the future they may all go electric, but who knows? The Z's are selling if not only because there are so few of them. It will be interesting to see what the production figures are for '24 and what (if any) improvements are made. If I get one, it will be a daily driver. I already have an only driven on nice days car, so the Z will be one I drive and enjoy.

Getting that side stripe custom made in white except it will say Nissan Z

Also tinting the windows, will post shots when everything is done.

PS. I may continue the white stripe all the way back, my graphic designer is sending me some pics tomorrow so I will decide then.
