I bet you got a lot of good looks & discussion at the show. The pic with the mist on the car is pretty cool.

Is this in sport mode (i.e. valves open)?
here is another video of sport. there is no difference. so I did some research and yes the manual and the auto have different exhausts with the auto being made by tenneco with a very small muffler. the manual has a more traditional large muffler.

Ive seen threads on here about active exhaust as jonathan buehler said it a few times with jay leno and then a on a video shoot with larry chen. I think what he means is the sport mode button just changes how the sound is delivered into the cabin ( ASE)

Sport

and for comparison GTR NISMO with NISMO midpipe

I think it was stated somewhere the exhaust difference between MT & AT was because of the way the driveby noise regs are tested, but that’s kind of odd n disappointing the sport mode “active exhaust” is really just artificial ?; kind of misleading the way Nissan advertises it

Still pretty decent sounding for stock tho, nice vids ??

hmm yeah it does say adjusts the "flow" but I literally got up under the car around the muffler with a flashlight and didnt see anything like an actuator that would open or close anything and no wiring where the sport button could adjust anything. the newer GTRs ( 2017+) has this where at low RPMS exhaust gas only comes out of one side of the exhausts then at 3500RPM it opens up.. but its electronically controlled to the point where if swap out the exhaust and dont put a dummy override there it will throw a code.

now on the Z it could be something purely mechanical in the piping that is controlled by just the exhaust pressure itself as that would meet their criteria for "flow" adjustment. ive never seen pics of it or anyone really discuss it. the sound in sport mode is also 100% artificially amplified

This was always my understanding and was surprised to hear people talk about variable exhaust notes. As far as I knew switching between normal and sport just artificially changes the sound in the cabin.

Here in Aus the exhaust we get is the same on the auto and manual. It's the crappier one NA gets for the manual. I've already switched mine out for HKS. I can't really tell the difference in sound in the cabin between normal/sport anymore. I guess the actual exhaust note now overpowers the fake noise in the cabin.

Been running my MAP CBE for about three weeks now (had to get it adjust the first two, but it's solid in place and settled in in the last few days, allowing me to fill rip it this weekend)

I definitely hear a difference in sport mode vs. standard

In short it's a few db louder by ear.
The "flow" just feels more thorough and "maximum" along with the trans and overall feel of the engine.

Did my first spirited drive today and it was surreal.
Car literally felt like it "woke up" for the first time.

Revs were holding when off pedal and lightning ready to give power down.
Trans was ripping it all the way to 7k on full auto... Not even paddle/manual mode
Suspension felt amazing and she held tight through corners.

Absolutely loving her!
