Do you happen to have a picture/pdf of the instructions? I'm considering pulling the trigger on this for my Seiran Blue, but I don't want to have to notch or clearance anything.

What did you mean by the brackets bent? The ones on the car or the ones that came with the hood struts?
FYI - I didn’t have to modify anything. I get the impression the instructions are the same for all vehicles that they sell dampers for but reading about modifying plastic or potential “hood bulging“ was not on my bingo card.

The brackets that came with the struts that attach to your hood are the ones I’m referring to. The end that holds the strut attachment is what bent almost immediately moreso on the driver side. The struts were very stiff on the first close but bracket went from a 90 degree angle to closer to 115 degrees. I was able to bend it back with a pair of pliers and a cloth but it was still somewhat unnerving.

Yeah that has me a bit concerned; I'll likely still pull the trigger on it but I'd really rather not have my paint get scuffed, even if its on the underside of the hood. After you bent the metal back I'm guessing it hasn't re occurred?

Here’s the latest pic I took just now. There’s still a subtle bend to it that I’m going to need to keep an eye on. Both sides are like this. It’s hard to see in the pic but you can tell the part of the bracket holding the ball joint is bent slightly upwards towards the hood. The video shows it more clearly.

I’ve contacted Kanjo to see if they have any feedback.

Here is where you MAY have to trim a little plastic. My passenger side required no trimming but the drivers side did. No biggie.

I didn’t do any trimming at all when installing mine, and if I needed to I wouldn’t use them. They’re more of a nice feature to have than something that is actually needed in my opinion. In the end to each there own.

After reading your thread I went and checked mine, because I didn’t even think about it. Anyway just like yours the DS bracket is noticeably bent and the PS also looks less noticeably bent. The struts function without any issues, but I will reach out to Kanjo too.

Update I also reached out to Kanjo after also noticing my brackets were bent. I sent them pictures and they replied almost immediately. He stated they are working on updated brackets, but were willing to send me replacements immediately. I told them I would wait for the updated ones that should be out within the next month or so, unless the current ones bend out of spec more or stop functioning. Lastly they seem to really be customer focused businesses.

They responded to me with the same thing. Very impressed with the customer service. The bend seems to “be a thing” but happy to see them responding to customer feedback.

I ordered and installed my hood dampers from Kanjo and I was impressed with the product and the installation process. I highly recommend this upgrade and vendor. I found the directions were helpful and also watched the videos to ensure a smooth install. Absolutely love this upgrade.

Looks like these are out of stock when I go on their website. Does it have anything to do with the issues people have been talking about in this thread?

Also, does this mess with the hood popper in an accident?

Personally, I doubt it. I remember when I ordered them, most of the other models were out of stock except for the RZ34. I bet they finally just sold out of what they had and aren't making more available until the new brackets are done. Keep in mind - I'm very happy with these and the bending doesn't seem to impact anything functional.

In regards to the hood propper, I can't see how these would impact anything that was stock.

Also, saw you're from Detroit so GO LIONS!

This stuff is junk. I wouldn’t put it on my car if it was free.

To each their own! I installed them in my Z and besides the slight bracket bend they work as advertised. I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt on this product. It was a great idea, but fell just a little short on the R&D aspect on bracket strength and durability. I truly doubt they had tons of cash to verify everything and more importantly gigantic corporations get it wrong all the time. Their customer service is outstanding well at least it was with my interaction with them. They’re going to send me their updated brackets once they’re ready and I have no problem waiting.

I have had these a couple months now and am very happy with them and no bent brackets here.
