Is it safe to blend 93 and e85?

I've heard of people adding a gallon or two of e85 before filling up with 91 or 93, whatever is available at that particular area. Not in a Z, but other vehicles. I'm new here.

It blows my mind that not all new cars can run E. But it's whatever.

What are y'all doing?

I run only 93 but I'm curious if anyone has tried this blend yet or what the safe ratio would be.

Yes, I did it all the time in my C7 & C8 Corvettes. The LT-V8s were happiest at 95-octane so I typically added 3-4 gals of E85 per tank of 93.

I'll splash blend our Jeeps too as the Pentastar V6 likes 89-octane (87 + 2-3 gals of E85).

Officially, Nissan approved the Z up to 15% ethanol but you're perfectly fine taking it up to 30%.

I'd personally stick to 2-3 gals of E85 per tank of premium due to the Z's smaller tank size. 3 gals will net you 23% & 95-octane.

Luckily there is a station near my office with 88E15, E85, 87E10, 89E10, 91E0, & 93E10 all available at the pump!

I assume 80% to err on the high side. 70-75% is typical, but it can be as low as 50% or as high as 83%.

If you live in a reformulated area where there is E already in your 91 or 93 I'd be careful unless you upgrade to a flex fuel kit. I'm running the AMS flex fuel kit with a tune, and I can run 91 all the way to E85 and not worry about detonation due to falling off stock map timing.

I took samples and used an E85 tester to check my local fuel stations.

SAMS 93 pump measured ~8% and Spinx’s E85 (105 octane) measured ~80%.

per the calculator below using a target of 20%, I mixed in 2gal of Spinx E85 and 6gal of shell nitro 93 pump with the tank 1/2 full. So my tank ended up at ~17-19%.
