I have to admit, NA sounds so much better. Drove in tandem with a 3.7L 370 yesterday. Turbocharged engines don't sound as good. Now the Porsche 991.2 and S58(M series), and B58 sound good as turbo cars.
V6 turbos have this issue and it’s made worse with the DI. My 300zxTT I went through about 4 exhausts until I settled in the Labree exhaust, and it was amazing!I have to admit, NA sounds so much better. Drove in tandem with a 3.7L 370 yesterday. Oh my god yeah, this car just wants to be going 100+ mph all the time, like it’s nothing. And it just gets there so fast, it’s a whole different level.God I hope so lol. Those boxer engines they put in those and the BRZ are nice for a cheaper fun little coupe but the Z's twin turbo V6 is and should be on another level.
What has surprised me the most about the Z, and it's just my lack of owning a newer sports car with more refined suspension and quieter cabin... etc. is how 100 mph feels like nothing and so little effort to get to that speed.
No offense to anyone but I could care less what it sounds like at a stop light or parked. I just wanna drive it and it sounds great when you run it.
American NA V8's will always be the best sounding engines to me. Depending on the car though, some are a lot less fun to driveI have to admit, NA sounds so much better. I've owned a C5 Corvette, two Cobra Mustangs, a supercharged Saleen, a Trailblazer SS with an LS2, and my RCF had the 2UR-GSE which is a phenomenal V8, and they all sounded great (both in stock form and with aftermarket exhaust).American NA V8's will always be the best sounding engines to me. Exhaust upgrade or muffler deleteThese cars have NO sound, they are pathetic stock. I have M6 also and I couldn't hear when to shift. That is why they have ASE/ANC which I shut off before leaving dealership. They are also SLOW stock. My car did a best 12.99 60-130 - that's slow. The car NEEDS bolt ons and tune otherwise I don't think I would have kept it. It wakes up after that. Thank god it's a pretty car![]()
3" intakes, LDP's (I did resonated) and 3" catback and tune. Then you get performance and sound. That's what I did. If you want more performance than you're doing big turbos, intercooler, hpfp, ethanol, injectorsExhaust upgrade or muffler delete
Hey I’m new to the forum. I was doing a google search for engine noise and found this thread. My Z has the exact same noise you are describing. I really only notice it inside the cabin while driving at the RPM you stated. It’s hard to pick up from outside. It is a very subtle noise. Not really sure what it is. It completely disappears above 1100 rpm.Apart from the usual loud sewing machine noises l get a kind of muffled knock more noticeable when cold but still can just hear it around 1000 - 1100 rpm when hot, does anyone else noticed this?
Wow that’s interesting, l also get a strange metallic random tinkling noice from the right side of the engine on warm up like a coin is rattling around under the cam cover ( only noticeable with the hood up) goes away when hot.Hey I’m new to the forum. I haven’t noticed that sound. I’ll have to listen for that one. I just rolled over 1000 miles so I’m still trying to get used to all of the noises it makes. The noise that we discussed earlier has been there since I rolled off the lot. To be honest, I do believe that they are normal engine noises. I think if it was anything serious, it would be much more pronounced. Maybe somebody else will chime in about the noises we are hearing but I don’t think they are anything to worry about. You might be like me where I tend to zone in on certain noises where others don’t think twice about it and just enjoy the car. I wish I was more like that. Lol…I’m coming from a GR86 and that motor sounded like it was going to come apart, but it was completely normal.Wow that’s interesting, l also get a strange metallic random tinkling noice from the right side of the engine on warm up like a coin is rattling around under the cam cover ( only noticeable with the hood up) goes away when hot.
