How to Stop/Disable Nissan's data reporting how you drive where you are and all other Usery information?

Do not sell my, fill it out, when you get the email mail you'll know you did it right, it takes about a day or so to receive it.

Id say to do what Citrus is talking about and unplug the safest component. In fact I may still do it myself.

Maybe it would be easier to just pull a fuse to disable the TCU? Or does anyone know how to get to the shark fin? You could probably just unplug the cell antenna. If you are like me, I just use android auto on my phone, so car cell connection is pointless.

UPDATE from my previous post. I had disabled it, sent the non-disclosure paperwork to Nissan ... yesterday, rather than saying 'limited' ... it was full on sharing again. Went back into the menu and turned it off.
This crap has to stop ... spying on drivers within the vehicles and Flock cameras going up everywhere.

Disconnect the Wi-Fi and cellular antennas.
The car will permanently think it's in the boonies.

You also need to review the settings and operation of your smartphone. I have heard that sometimes the vehicle data can be back-channeled through a smartphone bluetooth connection.

I would love to disconnect the cell antenna and maybe the wifi too. Does anyone know a way to do it without tearing the dash apart? Maybe you can get to the sharkfin from the bottom? Or maybe it just pops off?

I've not done this to a Z yet. But you're right, often times the telematics module is in the dash.
One car I did it to the antenna connectors were behind the instrument cluster.

We'd need access to the Nissan FSM for the Z, or someone's firsthand experience to determine the best way to disconnect the antennas. I don't know what connectors are at the antenna, if all signals are combined into a single connector, but on all 3 cars I've done each signal had its own individual RF connector at the telematics module.

You'll lose the functionality of any vehicle APP on your smartphone if you disconnect telematics.

I saw a you tube video of someone saying just track down the telematics fuse and pull it and you're done on some cars, but others will generate an error or light on the dash. Maybe someone has tried this?

It may also cause other problems depending on what else utilizes the module. Disconnecting the antennas causes it to lose signal, just like when you are driving in the boonies.

I suspect that in the near future it won't be so simple. Manufacturers may begin designing the system to freak out if the antenna is disconnected, or they may make it so you can't just disconnect the RF.

Currently, we have the legal right to disable the telematics, I suspect future legislation will address it, making it illegal to do for future vehicles......

I hope that never happens in this country. If you purchase a car, you own it so the government has no right to tell you what you can or can't do with it. I know this is not the case for a few things now, like emissions and safety stuff, but it needs to stop.
