Like the idea of tracking, but to scared.
How does insurance work? Will they cover you if you crash?
I think I’d find myself paying the money to have a go then driving like a grandma just out of sheer terror that I’d total the car and have no insurance.🤣

Funny though I’m quite confident on nice winding roads
I would like to try just to get the how fast will it go out of my system but your right would be a bit scared as I'm sure your insurance would not cover this.

Have done a few track days in my FiestaST and it's an absolute blast. RWD and 300kw would be a lot scarier/funner I'd imagine!

Normal insurance won't cover you on track.

If you go on track you need to find a specialised policy to cover you on track. Normallly these are one off policies which cover you for the day.

Also for most tracks you will require a CAMS or equivalent licence to be able to drive on track. You generally just can't turn up and expect to be able to drive your car of the track without having these.

For casual track days this is just purchased though on the day. There's no testing or anything required (unless that's changed recently)

Wish it could be a daily but unfortunately as a tradie I must commute in the company ute.
QR and Lakeside do heaps of cruises, Roll Racing and some beginners Time Attack events. Mount Cotton Hillclimb also does and 'come and try' days.
Happy to invite you along- hubby and I have a 300 VS New Z grudge match going lol. Roll Racing will likely be the first one we hit up!

From what I can see though, most of these policies only cover you for 10k ….that won’t go far

Thanks, I would love that! I hear Mount Cotton also has a skid pan. Should be a good way to relive my youth without ending up in jail.

No worries 😊
Yep, wet pan is at the RACQ Mobility Center of Excellence and run by Skid Control. Lakeside also do a really cool Khanacross event, and a 'Race Ya Mate' short track event hosted by Grip Attack.
Heaps to choose from!

Hi All
just noticed that the Z is up on carsales, it has an indicative driveaway price of $82754, new car to order enquire with dealer.
Its also up on Budget Direct insurance website, comprehensive insurance for Serian Blue 6spd is
$712 with excess set at $1000, restricted to drivers over 50 and driving 5k a year, a lot cheaper than I thought it would be. It sets it at market value, will not let you adjust to agreed value, but for the first 2 years/40k they have to replace the car if its a write off

If the insurance companies have it, it can’t be far away

I just went through the budget direct quote process and at the very end it said "Sorry, we can't offer you insurance right now" "we do not offer insurance on this vehicle" 🤷‍♂️

It may depend on your age, some companies won't insure under a certain age for high performance car

I'm 38 so don't think that's an issue. I'll deal with the problem later if/when I actually get a Z. I've got 2 cars insured with BD already and have found them to be pretty good.

If your under 50 it can be an issue. When I bought my Peugeot only 2 insurance companies would cover me….SGIO and RAC, with RAC being almost $800 cheaper!
I’m still not quite at 50 yet, so might have the same issue
