I'm not one who likes "going back to stock" so I've been pouring over my LDP options to find a good compromise. I've since ordered the new B6A 3" resonated LDPs since they claim to use the largest resonator in the VR30 downpipe market. I did not want to go catted since the secondary cats are not monitored and my main cats still remain in place (I do like the fact that AMS uses real GESi G-Sport GEN2 EPA-certified cores though). For additional sound mitigation, I will also be wrapping these ones in DEI Titanium exhaust wrap rather than having them ceramic coated. I used this DEI Titanium on both my wife's Wrangler and my C8 and it's held up incredibly well (even through mud & water).

So, it does bother me that the Spools do not fit properly with the mounts they include. While it's not a dealbreaker, to me, I like to keep my cars close to factory. However, in addition to the mounting issue, the pipes do have small resonators, so they may be a bit louder or "raspier" then some other downpipes. I too think I may be going to the B6A.

The LDPs fit well, aren't leaking, and aren't dragging. They're welded stainless steel pipes that are ceramic coated; they're not going to fail with or without a mount. I will certainly find out when I go back to have them uninstalled, though. I was pretty happy with the quality of them, especially considering the price point.

Thinking back to previous cars, aftermarket exhaust systems typically do not retain factory mounting brackets.

Another thought, is it possible that the mounting brackets differ by model (Q50/Q60/Z) or even by year?
Yes, there is a variance based on the model, 100%. It seems they just pump them out in one version, and if the mounts don't fit, that's acceptable to them as a company.

Seems like a bunch of us will likely be getting these new B6As... Curious what we all find in terms of fitment.

I'm calling it right now, the brackets won't fit 🤣

Maybe I'll ceramic coat + wrap...

The only reason I'm making the switch is to try and quiet the exhaust down just a bit.

I'm pretty excited to get all this installed. I don't have those middle brackets tho. Do you think zip ties would help long term?

You could take it to a muffler shop and have a bracket welded on..

I guessing the spool fits the Q just fine. I wonder if the Q bracket will work on the z?

I’m guessing another resonator version is not going to help much. you may have to go catted and/or quieter exhaust… It maybe simpler to buy the wife her own Z - lol. You could slap the oem lower back on and see what racebox can do with it…

I’m thinking i can rig up a bracket to fit if that is the only issue i have with the spool.

We shall find out; I'm willing to give it a shot (also why I'm adding wrap this time instead of coating - wrap does a good job at toning down some resonance as well)!
Even if it's just a placebo effect to satisfy all 😁

I think the B6A will be an improvement. I have the exact same setup as you; with the AWE and the spool. The spool DP’s has tiny resonators and it really does not match up well with the AWE; honestly It might as well be a straight through test pipe. The B6A guys tested various versions to get the sound right with their resonated version. I think it will cut down on the noise enough to make a difference.

Great to hear this; actual R&D goes a long way. Did they have any other words of wisdom?

I saw this a few weeks back. This guy installed the new '4 dps by Spool on his Q. Check the fitment.

he does not show the hanger bolts much and looks they are not bolted in.
