what was the reason for not tuning on the dyno while you were there?
They'll be doing my custom tune on the dyno. Might as well take advantage of them being local! I've always preferred dyno tunes vs. remote based on logs. I actually need to get that scheduled for sometime later this month after my dealership recall visit.

I used to remote tune a lot of Evo 8/9s back in the day for guys on EvoM using EvoScan/ECUFlash. S-AFC street tuning before that. I wouldn't even know where to begin today...

I have 2 open, both require the front bumper to come off. Something about the headlights and the wiring harness one. I have a very early MY2023 manufacturer vehicle. Taking it to Nissan Katy. I'm also going to have them disable ASE.

That’s what i was thinking - take advantage of having racebox tune in-house on a real live dyno jet. Much faster, better & verified tune.

Even with a remote / street tune, i would take the finish product to a local dyno to verify gains.

I‘m 1.5 hr. from both z1 and soho (soho does tuning for z1). So i will pick one of these guys, remote tune (to save time on the dyno), then drive over to have them tweak on the dyno.

Cool thing about a dyno jet, you can get a copy of the dyno file to view / print on your PC with dyno jet’s free viewer. I’m thinking i will have a copy framed for the garage - lol

I‘m amazed of how little dyno info there are for the new Z. I was spoiled with hondata and the s2k community - base tunes provided by hondata for typical bolt-ons for mutiple brands and countless dyno pulls w/ calibrations files from the s2k community for every possible mod combination.

I think the wiring harness recall maybe for the hood poppers? Not sure i would do that one…

Yeah, same with Evos and WRX/STi!. Things were much more DIYable back then!

Well, I wanted the tune to reflect my driving style on the street on street conditions.
You should get hooked up with krack for a 2 for 1 deal at racebox and a little coopetition…lol

I feel like them and Spool at least owe me a T-shirt sponsorship or something 🤣

I still have a good collection of garage shirts from back in the day... Perrin, Competition Clutch, MAPerformance, COBB, etc.

I see your point, but better? That's up for debate. Convenient, absolutely.

Nothing wrong with street pulls but there’s no substitute for dyno verification. the data logs will dictate the parameter changes - but dyno is only way to know if you have dips/low spots in the power curve. The tuner can focus on these areas and make manual tweaks to clean-up = better.

for a MT the street pulls and dyno pulls will be the same - take 4th or 5th gear from a roll @ ~2K to redline. For the street I’m assuming you are limited to a 3rd gear pull. 4th would need some real-estate - which I’m sure you have in Texas - lol.

For autos some cars allow the tuner to lock the tranny into one gear for the pulls. otherwise you get alot of noise in the data for every shift point. For the z i’m guessing 5th or 6th would be the gear for tuning..

Is anyone running LDP's without a tune? I am getting ready to install mine, and while I know it should be fine, some folks have said the turbo's can overboost without a tune. I plan to tune, but want to get all the mods done first, see how I like the sound for a while, then get a tune.

No tune as of now. No issues. Love it! Spool Performance No Cat track LDP.

What's your max boost spike? Originally I was planning to install & tune at the same time, but perhaps I'll reconsider.

Got a quote from jet-hot - $300 shipped for their extreme 2000 plasma thermal spray coating + top coat for color and removed the logo plates for prep.
