Well, with prices going up I may try shopping for a new full size truck again. Seem to get better deals when gas is $5/gal.

What I find utterly ridiculous is that the price can be different at two stations supposedly under the same brand. It's the same with supermarkets where prices and specials can be different at branches under the same brand. The silliness of having a "national brand" where the branch owners are independent and can do almost whatever they want.

Even sillier, petrol can often be cheaper at a station in the middle of nowhere (despite long haul tanker delivery) than it is in the big city!

:(

So, according to the value of a dollar, your $4.10 today is equivalent to $3.10 in 2008.

Average local retail prices (per litre, with percentage increase since last month):
  • 91 = US$1.95 (rise of 10.08%)
  • 95 = US$2.07 (rise of 11.45%)
  • 98 = US$2.22 (rise of 16.64%)
  • Diesel = US$1.44 (rise of 17.83%)
This shows how quickly they are going up ... prices above were just two days ago, but the today's average prices per litre are:
  • 91 = US$1.98 (rise of 11.22%)
  • 95 = US$2.11 (rise of 13.12%)
  • 98 = US$2.26 (rise of 17.81%)
  • Diesel = US$1.48 (rise of 20.06%)
:(

They supposedly put prices up due to rising international oil barrel prices, but the petrol we're buying today was bought by them months ago, and has since been refined and stockpiled. They're very quick to put prices up, but a lot slower to put them down again.
