Now we're talkin! ? Just went to the grocery store as well and that was probably the most expensive trip in a decade.

On a positive note, GA is supposed to suspend tax on gas through the end of May in the next few days.

WOOHOO!

You'll save .75 each fill-up!

These politicians kill me...

Floriduh's gonna do it, too, but not until October.

Reason? 'cuz that's when all the tourists are gone...???
Yeah, I think it's only a few bucks per tank for me, but still ?

..Just filled up 93 @ $5.10 in CLT...Full tank cost $65 vs avg ~$45 prior to these price hikes for my S4....I'm so glad my Tesla came in 2 weeks ago...Have spent $9 on 400miles of driving so far..

That’s certainly tempting when you hear the comparison…but can I ask you honestly…is the Tesla fun to drive?
To me it seems sterile, lacking any character and the interior build plastics and cheap….dint get me wrong I’m not giving you a hard time or the car for tha5 matter as I’ve only seen it in pictures and in the shopping centres, none up close.
its simply an impression I have and I would be happy to hear it’s wrong.

At the moment the only EV I looked at was the mini, because I thought that might offer some fun…fir me it didn’t
If an EV could offer what a petrol vehicle could even in terms of build, and drivability I might take a look, but to me they just don’t seem it’s there yet…plus the added issue of charging, in Aus it’s not great

Hey!..dont bash on my new expensive ass car purchase...LOL JK

So I bought the LR versus the performance, so, in terms of the "fun", I like it because, yes it is very very "sterile" in terms of feel, etc, but then again, that's one the reasons I bought it.. The straight line performance, flatness in corners and sheer peacefulness of the cabin make it "fun" for me..But don't get me wrong, I'm NOT going full EV..absolutely not. This 4 door does not replace my other 4door S4 and there are no affordable full EV 2 door sports cars out on the market., so no go there.

Interior quality is much improved vs the prior years. I sat/rode in a 2019 Model 3, and the plastics were 100% cheap and hence why I didn't get one back then. But the current model year, is so much better. Doors thunk on closing, seats and interior material feel very good, and the features of the touchscreen are so nice. On the other hand, you can def tell the QC isn't at the 99% level as with other manufacturers (I'm primarily comparing this against current 2018 S4, previous 2020 Accord Sport, 2012 370z, 2005 G35, etc etc). The flash drive that came with the car for sentry mode doesnt even get recoginzed 50% of the time, but works 100% of the time..which makes no sense. There is a slight knocking noise from inner front passenger wheel well. Simple stuff, but its like...come on its s $55k car how was this missed? The reason I found is, Tesla is so damn busy delivering these that the service team at the dealership just get the car cleaned up and ready for customers. There is a lenghty checklist that the team must complete before customers are allowed to take delivery, and these items gets rushed past..When I was picking my car up, we had to wait an hour for other deliveries to complete since there were nearly 10 cars being delivered and customers checking them out.

Exterior wise, the panel gap issues are not present on my vehicle, BUT the frunk plastics needed to be realigned and the rear calipers were not dried properly as I can see the paint drip marks on it. Minor issues that Tesla fixed for me, but def would not expect this in $55k car.
Paint quality was incredible, but its super soft , so def need PPF and/or Ceramic coating ASAP or those scratches are a nightmare to get out.

Charging is expensive at Superchargers (.$.29/Kwh) vs $.09 at home. My uncle has driven 700mi on his MY Performance and paid $9 in electricity (free charging at work, $.09 @ home and no Supercharging). This same distance would've cost him $200 (~18 Combined MPG @ $5.10 on a X3M. Even if he charged 100% at home he would've paid $22, vs $200 in X3M. But yes, if charging isn't as attainable where you live, then it's a difficult decision to make. Plus getting a charging setup at home costs around $750 for materials and labor on a 14-50 outlet.

To Sum up, the car is amazing. It's hard to choose between driving the Tesla vs S4 every morning. When I want a comfortable, quiet, LAZY drive, then tesla all the way. Autopilot is 95% accurate and i've made countless drives with no interventions from myself and let the car do its thing. It honestly, makes you lazy, but its so worth it on long drives. Would i trade my modified (& still slower) S4 for this or a M3 Performance? NO. The sound and excitement I get from the BOV, intake, Exhaust and gear change farts from the ZF don't outweigh the sterile feeling of the Model 3.

I love both Model 3 and S4, but I'm not getting rid of either when I get my Z. Not worth it to me to lose what the strengths of each car are.

If I were to have 1 vehicle, Model 3 or a STOCK S4, then I'd go for Model 3 Performance. If you don't care about driving engagement, or sound, then its a great all in one package. If you need the aural orgasms, then stay with the ICE. Best case scenario, have both. The model y performance is really really good, but its just so damn heavy..I had it for a week and both my brother and uncle have it, and its amazing, just a bit too heavy..I'll wait for the 4680 version and then see what the wifey thinks...she's like me though, she needs the sound, so Macan S is on her shortlist :)

Thanks for the run down…I’m glad to hear that things are improving and your happy with how it drives.
I can’t afford both, so for me it will be the Z, the noise and the feeling of acceleration is still intoxicating to me
plus as I said, the charging stations in Aus are still relatively few and far between, and distances are large…I don’t think we are ready for it.
Plus I’m being stubborn, every state in Australia OTHER than WA ( where I live) have financial incentives to go electric, if they are not coming to the party, I don’t want to help them either …selfish I know, but electric cars here are still very expensive and I want my monies worth ?

My buddy has a 2019 Tesla Model 3 Dual Motor Performance (did I say that right? AWD and most powerful 3).
You're right about the interior, holy crap, it's like IKEA...."trendy cheap".
As for driving it, at 7/10 the car feels just like a Camry to me. Very mellow, serene and wafts along. Give the accelerator more than 8/10 and holy hell it's ridiculously fast (his did receive some performance upgrade download that supposedly made it even quicker, that's when I drove it).
However, when I jump into my VQ37 with upgraded exhaust right after driving the TM3, I get a huge grin on my face, it sounds like mechanical orgies. The TM3 just kinda puts a "WTF was that" look on your face as it is rearranging your guts.

Hey, did they put that stupid steering wheel in the latest TM3? I've seen it in the TMS and TMX and it looks like absolute ass...

I don’t even understand how that steering wheel is legal to be honest.
Youll fail a drivers test in Aus, if you cross your hands or do not slide them keeping continuous contact with the wheel…how is that even possible if half of its missing!?

It was stolen from Knight Rider's KITT. ;)

All the fools here are fearing large petrol price hikes in the next couple of days, so the queues at stations have been blocking roads and some stations running out. :(

Well, now that you made that connection, now I'm a fan of that steering wheel!
HAHA. Thankfully no, the 3 and Y get the normal steering wheel instead of the yoke. I prefer flat bottom wheel vs missing top.

it’s crazy. Hope this settles because at these prices I may not get the car.
